 Power Plant Explodes in Cyprus
« Thread Started on Jul 12, 2011, 6:15am »

You will probably not even have heard of the single biggest disaster in Cyprus since the war in 1974, mainly due to the lack of Muslims or oil being involved, or the fact you cant blame the Tories. Anyway for anyone who is interested in World News (Even if the UK Print Media couldn't give a s*it about the 200,000 Greek Cypriots in the UK) there is video here.

CNN Video from Cyprus of the disaster http://bit.ly/qZ28bE

And news hidden away on the BBC site at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/search/news/cyprus

This disaster will affect the Island for years to come, and right now it is in the middle of a heat wave, and now people have water shortages and power cuts.

So please spare a thought for the people from my country who are suffering right now.

That is truly awful news. I don't know what else to say. I feel for everyone affected.

It is truly criminal what happened, and even worse that still days later no UK media are reporting on this.

Here is a photo of the crater left after the explosion

the uk media miss a lot of stories, especially the bbc, who often pick them up late, if their agenda allows.

If that crater had been caused by, say, a gigantic fireworks display for Kate Moss' wedding celebrations then we'd have known about it straight away!

Sadly these days the media's agenda usually consists of any story containing sleaze, gossip or scandal. If it involves a celebrity then it can't get on the front page quick enough. ::)

Last night well over 10,000 people protested outside the Presidential palace in Nicosia.
No violence, just peaceful protest. They were even chanting to the few police there to put down their shields and join them.

Keep in mind there is only about 600,000 people that live in the south of the island, and suddenly 10,000 is a HUGE amount.
