Looks like we're all here post-May 21, and now have to look forward
to the Apocalypse Part II in October...At least my prediction was
right -- I received a lot of phone calls from the media on May 22,
wow!

To date we have heard of only two deaths relating to Camping's Great
Disappointment -- that's fortunate in some respects, as there had
been concerns that many of his followers would become fatally
despondent :

Of course there are far more people who have had their lives turned
upside down by their belief that the world would end, prompting them
to drop out of studies, sell houses and businesses, give up jobs and
so on.

We do hope that far fewer people will take any notice of this man
when October rolls around, and that maybe this "preview" will make
people more sanguine about the year 2012...

If you don't know of viral pop "star" Rebecca Black's infamously
dissed song "Friday", you mightn't get the full impact of the parody
(in which case, show it to a nearby irreverent teenager and watch
them convulse in laughter):

bring them along to the annual NZ Skeptics conference. Education and
entertainment guaranteed -- honest!

The online registration form for the NZ Skeptics Conference (26-28
August, in Christchurch) is now operational, with electrons standing

Please note that, as the conference is based at a university hall, on-
site accommodation is single room only (so if there's two of you,
you'll need to book two rooms; the beds are *very* narrow...).
