R.I.P Daryl - The Magicians Magician
Mr Jinx Says: It's being reported from the US that magician Daryl Eston (Martinez) has died in tragic circumstances. I'm not linking to the story as the initial reports appear to be both distressing and wrong. Daryl was one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Not only that he was one of the most talented magicians and lecturers on the planet. I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions and have several of his tricks and dvd's. The magic community has lost one of it's greats. All at Badpsychics send their condolences to his wife and family.

I did see this story, I wont speculate either. But always sad when anyone in the magic community dies.

World Television Festival (WTF) to remove 'Magic' category from 2017 Awards.
The 'Magic' category has been removed from a list of 6 competing TV 'Light Entertainment' programme categories at this year's WTF awards in Luxembourg (May 20th, 2017). In a press statement from the Festival organisers it was unclear exactly why the category had been removed, but the inference was that magic was considered more 'trick' than 'entertainment' and as such was no longer deemed a valid competitor.

Magician David Copperfield found not liable for Briton's injuriesLink to storyMr Jinx Says: I was lucky enough to see Copperfields show in 2014 and this particular trick was one of the low spots, especially as it was meant to be the big finale.

Yeah i read a couple of the pre result stories on this.
I think any time you are using non stooges for such a trick there will be risk, even if as in this case the magician is not the cause etc. Obviously the bloke who got hurt saw a chance to try and make money out of what was an accident.

It's been a while since I've posted. A close magician friend died three years ago and I basically went in to a bad place and retired from magic. Well, in an attempt to get over things I'm now starting to take a more active roll in the magic community. Only time will tell if I will make it.
