I remember when this was originally screened - the Houdini Society claimed it couldn't be done that fast (15 seconds from the time Paul lifted the curtain for the last time to Martin appearing on the top). They were finally given a private showing to prove it could. I was gutted when i saw the Secrets of the Magicians show and they showed how easy this was to do. I had the opportunity to speak to Martin Daniels on twitter recently and he said the Houdini Society story didn’t happen.

Houdini’s Lost Diaries, part of the History Channel’s ‘History’s Greatest Mysteries' season, is being shown on History Channel US at 8pm EST (midnight GMT) next Tuesday, 28th September. Made by the BBC for The History Channel, it's looking likely to be one of the most in-depth Houdini documentaries ever, and as the title suggests, it will examine the content of Houdini's diaries which have until now largely remained hidden; focusing on Houdini's fascination with danger and death in particular.
Paul Zenon, in addition to being one of the talking heads on the show, alongside Teller, Jonathan Goodwin, Mike Caveney, Joshua Jay, and others, supplied the magic and escapology props, and will be appearing in around a dozen different guises in the recreation of photographic stills from various periods in Houdini’s career. Here's Paul, on set, as Jim Collins, Houdini’s right-hand man during his on-stage Water Torture Cell.
This is accessible via History Play here in UK after the 28th, or via live streaming at the time (available through various media such as Amazon and Apple TV), and will be on Sky History at a later date.

Davenports Magic Collection. The Davenports have been accumulating magic, puzzles, jokes, novelties and related ephemera ever since Lewis Davenport founded Davenports magic business in 1898. It was not until the 1980s that a start was made on assessing the breadth and depth of what the family owned. On this website you can see everything that has been catalogued so far. It's a valuable resource for anyone interested in magic history - Davenport Collection CLICKMr Jinx Says: Until a couple of years ago Davenports Magic Studio was always on my list of places to visit when in London. It was the first magic shop I ever got to visit and I used to spend hours in there talking to the then manager Al Woodrow who was also on the selection committee for the Magic Circle. A very honest man he stopped me from buying any old crap, pity the owners didn't have the same scrupples. Unfortunately, the shop was forced to close recently due to redevelopment.

I really hope this isn't as bad as it sounds....... Harry Houdini Biopic in the Works at ParamountThe plot of the film is still under wraps, but the story will be set at the height of Houdini's fame in the early twentieth century, with a certain "Sherlock Holmes" tone to the story, according to Deadline. The film looks to focus on the almost “superhuman” personality that Houdini carried with him throughout all his iconic performances. Houdini was best known as a master escape artist, and escaped everything from simple handcuffs to his infamous act of escaping a straight jacket while being hung upside down in a case of water. He even barely escaped being buried alive and almost suffered a breakdown because of the near-death experience. FULL STORY

Lets hope that his family dont allow anything too stupid, if it is just a Sherlock Holmes type film but with Houdini using his skills, that might be decent.
