It started with the "Mentalist" saying hypnosis is real and has been proved by scientists. This made me a little suspicious.
While watching the contestants play with clay one lady was supposed to be a stroppy french artist, however as they were guessing each others creations her french accent had suddenly returned to her normal english accent!
I am pretty sure they are either stooges or just people that go along with the act, I am sure the money has nothing to do with it! I have read that hypnosis does help people with quitting smoking or regressing bad memories, is it real or is it lack of understanding and a placebo type effect?

Hi Ok there will be skeptics on this forum who will disagree with me, but this is my take on it.
100% of stage hypnosis is fake, it is all down to social compliance and role play, in other words people act as if they were hypnotised because they think they have been hypnotised!
Martin Taylor is an interesting person to look up, he does a hypnotism act, but doesn't hypnotise anyone, yet gets the exact same results, which backs up my whole argument.
I also think that hynotherapy, past life regression and all that stuff is nonsense too.
I think the issue is how to define what hypnosis actually is.
People can clearly put themselves in a trance and then endure pain which would normally be too much for them, but even that you can put down to thresholds and anatomy.
So my opinion is, it is pretty much all nonsense, in the entertainment way, or therapy definitions of hypnosis.
Also I am very disappointed that Keith Barry is involved with this show and scan, he is a good magician, and really shouldn't need to lower himself to this kind of performance to earn a living.
