Having read a lot of stuff about Yvette and Karl and MH in general (most from BP), on the face of it their actions and how they conduct themselves and their business does not paint them in a very good light.
I know I am only repeating what has already been said, but the things I mean:
- the fact they fake their show: while the show is prefaced with the "for entertainment only" notice, it does appear that they are actively and purposefully attempting to convince people that the evidence they capture is genuine. Those who believe them are being taken effectively being taken advantage of; Yvette and Karl's careers are essentially based on lies and they are making money at the expense of others beliefs.
- they come across as desperate for fame and money. The media blitz for the Wentworth apparition smacks of it. It's like they're clinging onto MH for dear life and are willing to do whatever it takes to squeeze every last drop of blood out of the stone, again at the expense of whatever or whomever.
- they seem willing to screw individuals over; Derek for example.
- Perhaps the most troubling incident was the bullying incident and Karl's periscope video. Karl's video in particular was, in my opinion was the worst. Just the way he spoke and the language he used made him sound rather childish, and rather than just apologise and accept that what they both did and said could have offended the public and the lad himself, he attempts to make out that those who spoke out against them were the ones in the wrong! It really was like watching a child try and shift the blame. Incredible.
I find myself thinking they are just the worst kind of people. I know they are just two people who make a s*itty little TV show that has a relatively small audience; and they're not hurting me in any way. But I think about the people who believe in everything they're saying and it bothers me. And it bothers me that they then run these MH experiences where people are paying money to go and hunt something that Yvette and Karl know doesn't exist; and what these people are paying £70+ for is to spend a few hours roaming round a building with these z-list celebrities and a few gadgets and gizmos.
But, are Yvette and Karl bad people? Are they really just two people just trying to earn a living and providing entertainment?

They do not fake the show any more than a professional wrestler fakes a move. The show is classified as Entertainment, therefore it is not advertised as genuine, so the onus on belief is very much due to the intelligence of the viewer.

Well they cling onto MH because that is all they have. Antix Productions (Karl and Yvettes company) have tried to make movies and other TV shows and every single one has failed, without exception. So all they have left is MH that they can earn money from.
MH was designed as a tool for Yvette to relaunch her career, get her back on TV etc, unfortunately with the exception of a disasterous appearance on I'm a Celeb, in 15 years it hasn't launched her to new heights, instead it has pigeon holed her into a genre she is no more an expert in than I am an expert in crochet.
The media blitz for Episode 2 was because they had done an edit, thought no one would figure it out, and knew that by paying all the newspapers to cover it, they would air it. Cost them a lot of money, and they got a small return on it by getting a few more viewers.
Not sure who is at the expense of this though, they can hire and fire whoever they like, usually when someone gets more popular than Yvette, or more attention than her they are gone, but I can understand that, since the show is all about her, and always has been.
This is where all the troubles with Acorah came from, he was instantly the star of the show, and they wanted rid of him after series 2, but LivingTV knew he was the draw, and made it clear that if they lost him, there would be no show. It was only when LivingTV game Derek his own show (Ghost Towns) that he decided to leave, and then of course they tried to stitch him up and destroy his new show, LivingTV took his side by the way, and Derek ALLOWED a Most Haunted Live to go ahead, he had that much power that he could have ended Most Haunted, and this was after they exposed him, he is such a nice guy (in real life), he didnt want the cast and crew to lose their jobs.
- they seem willing to screw individuals over; Derek for example.
See above, all because he got his own show, and was a much bigger star than Yvette.
Ask yourself why they got rid of Jason Karl after series 1, Phil Whyman, Richard Felix, hell even in recent years people like Mel Crump, all gone because they were getting positive attention, and Yvette was being ignored.
Hell even Watson isn't on the show any more and he is a dog!

Here is where I need to be a bit careful, but fuck it, there is a history of ... The following has been removed by the lawyers for Jon Donnis, as Jon is a big pussy scared to get sued.

Hey it annoys me too, but also take solace in the fact that even their fans are questioning them, the knife throwing incident, his own fans were questioning it on his facebook to him.
But, are Yvette and Karl bad people? Are they really just two people just trying to earn a living and providing entertainment?
What do you guys think?
Honestly i think Yvette is probably quite nice in real life, but unfortunately she married Karl, and he is not a good person, a man with a history of lying (remember when he pretended he was the worlds last samurai?) The bullying that you have seen on twitter is a taste of what they are like in real life together.
That is all my opinion based on what I have seen and heard from people who have worked with them

Hi Jon
Good to hear your thoughts. It certainly does appear as you say that Karl is the one pushing while Yvette is just the "face". He seems to certainly think a lot of himself.
I have to ask, what is this samurai thing all about? I have read it frequently on your site and already gathered he ha made out he is/was one, but when and why did he say it? It sounds crazy, LOL.
Also, his Twitter name is listed as Dr. Karl Beattie. The only thing I know that I have heard him discuss on MH and that is mentioned on his Twitter bio is that he is a "criminologist". If he holds some degree in criminology you would think he would put it to use and make a career out of it. Wouldn't be surprised if he bought a certificate online or something like that just so he could put "Dr" at the start of his name.

This is from over a decade ago. Basically from what I recall Tom Cruise was releasing the Last Samurai film, and for whatever reason Karl Beattie decided that he was a real Samurai!
It was claimed that he was the world full contact martial arts champion, and because he beat someone, that made him the only living real Samurai outside of Japan. APparently he had won something like 80 fights, was undefeated etc.
It was utter bulls*it of course.
Now claiming to be a champion, well anyone can do that, look at boxing, and how many "World champions" there are. The mistake Karl made was that because of this film he decided to claim he was a Samurai, to get himself publicity (it worked, he was on a lot of TV shows, magazines, newspapers etc), but the Martial Arts community as you would expect were outraged, theyd never even heard of him, so started looking into his claims, and poking holes in it, everything from the Samurai outfit he was wearing was wrong, the sword wason the wrong side, all the basic stuff that anyone who knows about the genre would know Karl had got wrong.
Of course it was a limited run story after the film came out, and then no one cared. It was forgotten about as the popularity of MH grew.
Now has Karl done martial arts in his life, yes he has.
But if any of his claims of being a credible world champion were real, he would have made a fortune in MMA, the UFC was taking off in the mid 2000s, Karl would have still been in his mid 30s then.
My favourite comment he made regarding all of this is as follows. "Beattie says he was in discussions with Cruise’s production company at one point over a possible role in “The Last Samurai,” but had to pull out as he was already committed to a new series of “Most Haunted.”
Yes Beattie claims he turned down the chamce to appear in a Tom Cruise film that generated half a BILLION dollars at the box office around the world, because he was making Most Haunted!
Here is some more reading on his claims, its all very funny

No idea about his so called Doctorate, I highly doubt it is a credible degree. If it was why not get a job doing Criminology? I am sure it pays much better. It might be a simple Open University degree (nothing wrong with that) that he did over a year or two. Or might even be one he purchased online for a few weeks course. He can call himself whatever he likes, as long as he is not working in real Criminology with a dodgy degree i dont care. And if his degree is legit then ask yourself why he isn't doing it

Good lord. Just read the samurai news article. Unbelievable. It is just the most bizarre behaviour.
What is funny though is his consistency. He seems to put at least some effort into his lies, whether it is buying some samurai armour and swords, or staging some evidence of the paranormal, yet he every time he does something that gives the game away. Such a fool.
There is something else on his Twitter page that I meant to include in my opening post. As well as the criminologist BS, there are these words: 'Spiritual Advisor to the Magahalomby Tribe in North America'.
I did a Google search but couldn't find anything about this tribe. Is this more BS or is it a joke?

Hi
Don't know if you've seen this before. It's an interview that TAPS in America did with Yvette. Sounds like it was done right after one of the MH live shows back in 2007.
They talk about the Ciaran and Derek thing and the interviewers almost call them out for faking and Yvette has to go on the defence.
Interesting.
Would be interested to see a collection of links for videos on YouTube that relates to all the shenanigans with MH (like the catching them faking things). I have searched YouTube and watched quite a few but bet there are some I've not been able to find. There is something to do with a penny that I have never been able to find.

Pretty much all the MH Live clips that expose them I released, but they came after me and kept getting them deleted and my account closed, but luckily many people re-uploaded them.
The problem sometimes though with looking at the past is that people can just excuse it, or blame it on someone else. Like with Derek, modern MH fans blame derek for faking. His fans blame Antix for putting pressure on him to fake and so on.
And since they came to UKTV they have not had a true live show like the old days, oh and they tend to encrypt their satellite feeds too! So it is harder to get stuff.
Also keep in mind the sheer amount of work needed to go through hundreds and hundreds of hours of boring tedious footage of just 1 live show to find something that exposes them.
I think sometimes it is better if people can figure it out for themselves, as it tends to stick more in their heads than someone else just shouting at them.
Thats why I tried to get people to go watch the show on the UKTV website, and I just give them the time codes and let them see for themselves.
Countless times i have been accused of editing footage and so on. I got the blame for the footage of Yvette faking a spirit noise at Ordsall Hall, as it is claimed i edited the footage.

I always feel they are two bullies as for Derek you have to admire the way he handled those two when they started to call him a fake he never dropped to their level I wonder if they still have the life stile they did buying expensive cars and jewellery everything seems to have been cut to the bone on the new MH even Stew has gone
PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES, NEED A GOOD WINDOW CLEANER..

Remember without Derek Acorah agreeing to do the MHL after they did the Mirror story (that they stole from my site 6 months before) there would be no Most Haunted.
Derek could have ended the show right there and then, that was the pull he had at Living TV, he saved the show after they screwed him over and tried to ruin his new show.
Fake or not, Derek saved a lot of peoples jobs that night.
I know Antix have gone close to bankruptcy a few times, and Fred Batt has bailed them out, hence his spot on the show now.
