Although, on a more serious note as it is really distressing, it can be brought on by stress, and sometimes for no reason at all.
I do know a girl who started to suffer from alopecia in her early 20s, and still has a large patch on her head where her hair has not re-grown. No one could give a reason.

Maybe I can help out over Stuart's alopecia. A couple of years ago, after Derek Acorah had left, my brother started buying a paranormal magazine. For the first four or five it also contained a free DVD featuring interviews with Karl and Stuart (of course they're were the occasional clips of Yvette ) The very first DVD had interviews with K and S. They vented about DA without mentioning his name and talked about having Gordon Smith on board the MH team. Apparently Stuart blamed DA (without using his name) for an incident in the Ram Inn.He said DA hadn't protected them, talk about contradicting yourself Stuart and Karl refuse protection anyway. He was forced to the floor and punched and beaten, etc, by a spirit. He was going to leave MH but decided to wait while after six weeks to see how he felt. The Ram Inn "attack" was held responsible for Stuart's alopecia. He did actually say the doctor said it would grow back, but obviously not as yet. Hope that helps. I've actually found the clip of the attack.

b***cks. Stuarts alopecia is more likely to have come about from the stress of faking things on live tv

Could it be he's using immac then, to keep up the affect that DA caused this??
I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to do that though, to be honest.

Hmm, I can't buy that, who would intentionally make themselves look like THAT?!

I thought it was hereditary, so whatever he did for a job he would be bald now anyway. Maybe he should start pencilling in eyebrows...

I think it's genuine, if you look he doesn't even have eyelashes or a hair shadow under his scalp. Stuart had a full head of hair.. Something traumatic caused it but the problem is because we know they've faked things and lied so much how can we believe a word Stuart says. It's an awful condition to have, I'm not a Stuart fan but going from having a full head of hair to none must be dreadful.

I did hear that he lost his hair after he was "so called" attacked at the Ram Inn, i recon it has something to do with stress, the stress of being told to perform for the cameras on every investigation. I dont believe anything which involves Karl or Stuart.

I also thought it was brought about by stress? That was the impression I got when i read Gail Porters Biography.

I've heard the same. I've known a few people who've been going through a difficult time and have actually started losing hair. The problem is doctors don't know what always causes it but I've definitely thought that stress is a major cause of alopecia.
