The most significant bits are on the left in a similar fashion to denary. A bit is a single binary digit ( the clue's in the name Binary digIT, geddit ? ), 8 individual bits is a byte. An example of a byte ( made from 8 bits ) is 10011010 ( 154 in decimal ).
