She gets about a bit ....shes a panelist on 8 out of 10 cats tonight after Big Brother. I anticipate a verbal lashing from Jimmy Carr.

I think she said about four things during the whole show and got off quite lightly from the comments Jimmy Carr could have made. I think she saves her comedy talents for Most Haunted as they were pretty dead on this show morganp

Is it just me or is our Yvette carving out a new career for herself. She appears to here there and everywhere of late. T V celeb and panelist would no doubt go down well, for the time being.

she is very cleverly re inventing herself by mocking her own rubbish programme, she will slowly but surely let out info about the fraudulent stuff as she loves the limelight..she will indeed be hoist by her own petard. in time.

Jimmy did let her off lightly , he's not known for his restraint as well Aye unusually Yvette was quite quiet , she usually lets rip with the verbal non stop but it seems when shes on shows like this her remit seems to be take the comments , laugh at yourself and hope no one asks you anything about it directly in the hope that it builds her public profile and is a bit of publicity.I think she knows she cant compete with the likes of Shaun Lock and Jimmy Carr. When shes on her own shows or ones that are sympathetic to what she does like Paul O'Grady she's quite happy to repeat her comments about now "firmly beliveing there is life after death " and "i started out a skeptic but its been proven to me now" but when the audience isnt as geared towards her target one she seems to revert back to the laugh knowingly as if shes in on the joke and avoid making any comments about her personal beliefs ...like some kind of luvvy nudge nudge wink wink persona .

Exactly my thinking too Fluffet. She was the same on Never Mind The Buzzcocks some time ago. Also does anyone else find that when she's laughing it seems forced and unnatural?

Yeah, well you can't blame her for doing so because of the majority of pi*-taking jackasses just waiting to make a joke out of you.
By not pushing the subject into the light further it gets passed over and mostly ignored because of the lack of return.
If you were on tv that much and everyone knew you you would be carefull about what you say also.

But if she truly believed in everything portrayed in her tv show then why is she willing to be seen laughing at it?

Yeah, well you can't blame her for doing so because of the majority of pi*-taking jackasses just waiting to make a joke out of you. Then why go on shows like that and be ridiculed to take the fee if you felt the hosts or audience were piss taking jackasses who were hell bent on making a joke out of you ? You would either attempt to defend your position, not do these kind of shows or forgo anykind of credibility and sit there laughing at yourself as long as you were getting exposure and the fee which seems to be the one Yvette takes . Shes best known for MH , shes not a comedian , or a musicisn , or a actress (well not in the conventional sense anymore) so shes booked as Yvette from MH , a presenter , she must realise therefore that the subject of what she does as any other panelist will be brought up and approached at somepoint .The subject is approached but you will notice on most of the light entertainment shows shes goes on they will make the odd joke but serious attempts to ask her about the validity of what she does are rarely asked (of course no one would want a serious debate on a show meant for purely entertainment ) infact id say she gets a very easy ride on most of the entertianment shows she frequents so its fairly obvious the only reason to do them is to get exposure and a fee.Fair enough but why then in more serious interviews be very definate about your beliefs and go on about how you wish people would take you and your shows subject more seriously then do shows where you then almost mock what you do and believe by sitting there avoiding the subject or laughing along at others mocking ? Yes everyone knows her , as the host of MH ! She is now more or less soley known as the presenter of that show and all that entails ...so its fiar to say that people would expect her to talk about it , her beliefs in it , her stance on the matter and perhaps to defend or not the subject she has emersed her whole career in for the last decade or so , its fair to expect that if she is questioned on a show or a joke is made that she might respond to it rather than just laugh along with a air of "hey i know its all just a bit of acting and fluff but i'll keep the pretense up as long as i dont have to make any real statement about it or say something i might regret ".If she doesnt feel that way then why NEVER make any reference to the very thing she does day in day out other than to laugh at it or at best just sit and smile when its made a fool of ? Id wager because she knows just ONE quote where she says ONE thing that might hint at fakery or ONE comment that might hint at the real intentions or a comment about any past members who have left would pop the MH bubble for good. She treads a fine line of keeping her audience onside in one show whilst having a bit of a giggle at their fervourant fanbase on another . Its all just showbusiness for her as far as i can see and publicity ....she may have a genuine interest in the paranormal but its from a point of view that its her bread and butter , that its what gets her crowd to watch , if it was more than that id expect to see her go on more serious debate shows and defend or offer more evidence that what shes doing is genuine or offer some kind of answers to the million questions people have in regards to MH and its authenticity.

Well put Fluffet, you've pretty much nailed that. I'd say that's exactly why she's not got much to say apart from laugh and generally go with the flow on the programme we're discussing and the recent appearence on Jonathon Ross.

When I watched in bed with Yvette and Karl last week, it was the one where she was appearing in Ant and Decs show, Karl bascically said (can't remember word for word exactly) that she gets paid good money to go on shows.
If we were all celebrities and your agent called to say "can you go on celebrity who wants to be a millionaire" im sure we all would because of publicity and a fee involved.
From what ive watched of Yvette on many shows she appears in, she comes across as very down to earth but their is the false side of her or am i just mistaking it for her acting (good or bad). I really don't know what to make of her really, but being on telly for her it's her living, so if she get's invited on other shows of course she will participate that's what keeps her face "out there" for a fee of course!

I don't blame her for taking the coin, I'd do the same TBH. I have a slight issue with her 'two faces' and the fact that we never see her defending the show and her convictions on the more light entertainment vehicles she appears on. She seems very non committal and laughs any digs or criticisms off.

Don't forget to take into account she's no expert and if she says something that is totally ridiculous she gets ridiculed from both sides.
She's only a presenter after all.

She'll be right at home then. She comes out with some ridiculous statements on MH quite a lot. Most of them to do with ghosties that aren't really there or are there but are called Stuart or Karl. morganp

They would be ridiculous comments if she was trying to pass the show off as anything more than entertainment. I don't believe she is. Ok she doesn't actually come out and say its just a bit of fun, but she has called Degsie a fake so she's not clueless. When its all over she'll probably join this forum and become a hardline cynic.
