You might not recognise the name of Carmen Reed but you may remember the name of Carmen Snedeker as being that of the mother of the family involved in the alledged "Haunting in Connecticut" story that saw renewed publicity recently after the 2009 film of the same name.
Its been widely known that Carmen Reed has been for sometime now working with the Warren's nephew, John Zaffis, and psychic medium, writer, and former actor, Chip Coffey, to write a new book about her family's time at 208 Meriden Avenue entitled "Demons in the dark" .
But it would seem that inbetween she has now decided to reveal a "gift" she claims she has suppressed since childhood and offer her services as a "spiritual adviser" no less ....yes that was the sound of the predictable penny clanging in the background there.
This article here might go some was as to bring you up to speed in regards to that particular saga and the main players involved in its tangled web of claims and counter claims , fallouts and allegiences of those involved etc -

Not sure about the always honorable where Chips concerned ....and as for Zaffis there are many articles out there that place the finger of suspicion on his and the Warrens involvment in the "investigation" in Connecticut at the time claiming they were far from honest in their findings or research.Infact some have gone as far as to say they were nothing more than conmen and that the Snedekers were willing participants in the ruse .
Back to Carmen though , she now claims she has a "gift" and was able to see "spirit" and predict deaths or mishaps since an early age.
So the usual tales of a grandmother who could "see" , supression of her "gift" etc ...the familar back story we have all come to recognise but this from a women who supposedly supressed this "gift" for the entire time she and her family were involved in one of the most notorious "hauntings" in the USA ?
One would have thought when as she claimed her family were being terrorised and attacked this "gift" might have afforded her some insight at the time or allowed her to at least be aware of what lay ahead when she entered the home for the first time instead of it being apparently "supressed" the whole time despite her being in a situation you would have thought might have jolted her out of her alledged self imposed denial of it ? Strange that she should now offer her "insight" and "gift" to help others who believe they are in a similar situation to the one she claims she was back then when she freely admits she didnt have a clue what to do at the time and her "gift" obviously didnt feel the need to surface back then .
Theres the familiar american indian connection , strange though for such a curious and intuitive child she claims to have been she obviously wasnt that inquisitive to want to check out her familys claims of its heritage in her later years either...not really inspiring much confidence in her "intuitive/curious" nature .If she "likes" a story are we to believe she simply accepts it and doesnt look any further ?
She goes on to offer her help to others -
If you read the article at the top of this post or infact google her or the haunting you will find plenty of information that doesnt point to her as much of a reliable advice giving candidate. Her handling of her eldest sons problems reads like a "jerry springer" episode and its hard to understand how a mother could not notice his descent into mental illness , his drug abuse and the behavioural problems he was showing as signs of schizophrenia (which he was later diagnosed with) instead of blaming it on "demonic possession".
Infact he was removed from their home not because they had noticed he was clearly ill but because he fondled their young niece who had been staying with them..the niece who claimed to have been touched by an "unseen" hand previously in support of their claims of a haunting. The called the police and had him incarcerated where he was finally to get the medical attention he obviously required. But none of this seemed to be apparent to Carmen ...her "gift" seems to have been non existant and as for her intuition well ...i think perhaps she might have to rethink that particular "talent".
The son later admitted in an interview that once he had been removed from the home and put in juvenille detention where he received correct medication he no longer experienced anything he had previously .Although the family acknowledge this they still claim he was influenced by external and demonic influences. Not the kind of women you really would feel secure in taking advice from.
This latest venture into the world of "spritual advisor" seems to be continually fraught with references to her wish to advise people not to go public but to go to her instead with their concerns .She handled the publicity in possibly the worst way and made many mistakes ...it would seem she still hasnt learned from them and yet feels she can help other families ...families who like her own are not in the midst of demonic possession but who were clearly unable to deal with the mental illness and numerous other problems they had within their number in a way that might afford them real help .I dread to think of anyone in a similar situation to her going to her for advice and having their head filled with the nonesense she has chosen to subscribe to and that ultimately caused her and her family no end of distress and upset.
Perhaps its time to turn away from the conmen , to step back from all the fake advice and fantastical explainations and excuses for all the tragic events in your life Carmen and the actions of those in it and instead turn to the professionals you should have gone to a long time ago who might afford you more insight and help than your "gift" or the Warrens or Zaffis ever really did .Just dont inflict your advice on others who need reality , who need a rational voice , who need to be guided towards the correct professional help for their problems...if you really want to help people do what it would appear no one did for you or you didnt want to accept ...get them to the nearest professional medic or psychiatrists office and have them address the real causes of their pain and distress.

I am now writing a book, "Demons in the Dark" with John Zaffis, the chief researcher in my home, and the always honorable Chip Coffey.

My birth should have told my mom something. I was always an intuitive child. Like most intuitives, I was scolded for saying someone was going to die or other things of that nature because it was believed to be of the devil. This didn't take the gift away, I just didn't speak of it. My grandmother was an intuitive as well, only she handled it in a different way. She would say, "Guess what a little bird told me today". There were many days I wanted to strangle that little bird.
So the usual tales of a grandmother who could "see" , supression of her "gift" etc ...the familar back story we have all come to recognise but this from a women who supposedly supressed this "gift" for the entire time she and her family were involved in one of the most notorious "hauntings" in the USA ?

I am of American Indian decent on both sides of my family. Cherokee on my mother's side with a shaman for a great grandfather, and on my fathers side, Maime Indian, who as it was told to me was an Indian Princess. I never checked either of the stories out I guess because I like them both.

The book will deal with the subject in its entirety, however, I still needed a venue where others could come to ask questions and get spiritual advice. I never want anyone to feel alone in their journey with the supernatural or other trials in their life, when I can help because of my intuition and by what I have learned.

I have 4 children that I delivered living and one not. I have 9 grandchildren. I live with one dog and one cat. I have had so many tragedies that I couldn't list them all. My brother was killed when a van hit him on Fathers Day. My sister died two years later of Aids although she wasn't in any of the risk groups. My father died during a beating of an angina attack. I guess it would be best to just to say read the book.
If you need spiritual advice, I am the one to come too!
