Derren Brown is working on a new show called Faith Healer.
The 90-minute programme, which was announced on Brown's blog, will see the star focus on the "controversial world of faith-healing".
He is expected to examine the techniques used by faith healers in America's "Bible Belt" and will train a member of the public to see if they can get away with hosting a show.
Brown's previous specials have included Messiah, in which he attempted to convince leading figures that he was an expert in their field, as well as The Heist, Seance and Russian Roulette.
Details of when Faith Healer will air have not yet been confirmed.

I actually suggested a very similar format for a show a few years ago! I even sent Meercat and Bobdezon to meet with Andrew O'Connor from Objective Productions to discuss it! Alas it was never made, but glad to see Derren doing something very similar!

Just wondering aloud whether the people who stumble forward to be supposedly healed have to sign any sort of waiver so that the faith healers who shove them over violently can't be sued for anything should they cause further injury?
I always notice that they are caught by helpers, but just wondered how much protection the healers have in place to defend themselves and avoid any comeback, bearing in mind the people won't really be healed at all and may even come to more harm as a result of being practically assaulted by some of them.
Just a random thought.

I am sure they have insurance, but also they are very rich so will have an army of lawyers to squash anyone if need be

the blokes a d*ck lets move on, he just uses idiots to make himself look good. That's one opinion I suppose. I've seen him live several times and I can assure you the people who go to see him (that he used in his show) are not idiots - unless of course you are a far superior Mentalist who can put on a vastly superior show?. morganp

Oh guess what I just seen!
Yep thats the same Objective Productions that I sent Bobdezon and Meercat to meet with in regards to a very similar idea for a show.
Oh well, if I had the money I would have made it myself.

This is exactly why I don't like him. Use a person to train as a fake faith healer and see how many mugs fall for it, hmm, not much of show when you put it that way is it. It prays on people's hope for one, destroys any belief of people who would like to believe in it and assume all faith healing is not possible when we don't know for definate.
Even though I don't really have much faith in it anyway, but thats not thje point. He just goes around bashing people with things that they didn't want to know and just interferes to make himself look good.
And the idiot point, is a general comment about leading people through a show and keeping your eyes and concentration on him, then he says what you are thinking because he has watched you and made a decision to chosse the most connected people to him and they just say yes to anything he's encouraged through the show with words and signs etc, to them. And more.
Next time you go to a show make a thought before hand and ask him to read you then with one answer, I bet he won't.
