We made a request for anyone who had received a reading from "World Renowned Psychic (In Devon)" David Charles and very quickly we got a reply.

Sadly people like him exist purely to take money off people who are feeling vulnerable, fed up or who feel they want a bit of direction, as you did, and the minute they answer the phone to you all they're interested in is your money. They can't tell you any more about your life than I could.

Absolutely every telephone psychic you could possibly choose to call would be doing exactly the same thing. They have a set of stock phrases that they churn out to every caller and rely on you to give them hints about your life so they can repeat them back to you later on and make you think they 'know' you.

Please, please don't waste any more time or money on these con merchants. If you feel unhappy with any aspect of your life then find somebody you can trust to speak to, and not a stranger who cares about nothing other than how much money they can get out of you. They don't care how upset they make you, or how confused they leave you, nor do they care if they fob you off with false promises. As long as you pay them, they're happy.

I'm really sorry you were upset by this man but hopefully will give any other so-called psychics a wide berth from now on. They're all as bad as each other.

I would also let them know that you have disclosed your full name, address, post code and date of birth (possibly even other details within the reading) that could now easily be used to pass security questions on a telephone banking line or even online...the information you disclosed is more than enough for someone to defraud you in seconds.

thanks for the advice, i have cancelled my card yesterday and he dosent have my bank details and he cant bank online cause he would need a card reader and i have not set up a telephone banking. I dont know why he asked for my address details is that not what these people ask for?

They have no need to know where you live, beegie1, it's not necessary at all.

Think about it, if you go buying clothes, DVDs, food or whatever and pay for your items with your card, does the cashier ask for your address? It's irrelevant, they only need your payment, nothing else.

I'm afraid there's no real way of checking this out, as we don't have a
database that records all guests on all programmes. In any case, news, chat shows and local radio etc all come under different divisions.
However, a search of the BBC website shows nothing at all for him - I
would expect something to show up if he'd been a regular guest. And I have searched the one TV and radio programme database we have, and nothing at all comes up on that.
