I don't mind it, I just don't want to have to pay for it.
I don't mind the DNA data base either. I don't care if I have CCTV pointing at my home. But they really need to think about it all and costs etc. And as someone mentioned we should all have NI cards, why can't they just update that card and put more info on it.
For all those people who are in this county and are here illegally, if they can't provide their card, they go straight to a holding place and removed from the country.
Am I being harsh? I just feel something needs done here in the UK.

if they can't provide their card, they go straight to a holding place and removed from the country. Unfortunately that just wont happen. Only a couple of weeks ago I was watching one of these 'fly on the wall' Police programs. Two men were stopped in a vehicle, which was dangerously illegal, both men were in the Country illegally, one was in possession of drugs, neither had a driving license or insurance. Were they deported? No. They were given Visa's by the Home Office because they came in from Zimbabwe. So, you can come into the Country illegally, break the law numerous times and are rewarded with a Visa to stay here even longer. It's beyond belief.

Meercat its very very annoying to say the least. It is all wrong.
I know they quite often park up between Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and stop the work vans that go to work on the fields picking veg etc.
There are people from the Police, DWP and Immigration. Luckily enough it looked as though they were doing their job.
I was amazed at the illegal people stopped and those who openly admitted they were claiming from DWP and working as pickers.
Oh to be a bit tougher like they are in places like Australia.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to fraudulantly copy distinct personal information such as iris recognition, DNA or fingerprints? Surely that's not possible.

Surely that's not possible. you should see the Myth Busters episode on finger print readers, they were able to get past a good few of them with a finger print printed out on a piece of paper. of course you cant currently copy someone's iris or DNA but the problem comes in that the devices used to read them are fallible.

I sort of sit on the fence with this one, i think its a good idea in theory but i can see loads of problems if they put it into practice.

Oh to be a bit tougher like they are in places like Australia. Its only tough for Brits to get in, took me 4 bloody years but people from just about every other country seem to be accepted with very poor English, questionable qualifications and hardly any work experience for the jobs they are brought in to do! One good point though, least immigration over here boot out the ones that are eventually found out, not like the ever ineffective UK immigration department who are too scared to stand up to the PC brigade!!!

to me simply, if their going to charge me, I wont buy it. if they are going to force me to carry it and show it whenever asked, I'll leave it at home. questionable qualifications and hardly any work experience for the jobs they are brought in to do! yes, I heard all those doctors aren't what they were made up to be.
