It's only the end of page 2 of this thread and I've already got a head ache!!! (Love the Avatar noddy). Bye the way, time travel is not possible because, whilst you would travel through the 4th dimension, once at your destination you would be in our 3rd dimensional space/time - no two identical atomic particles can exist in the same space time. E.g. if I travelled ahead to next week and went for a drink with myself at my local, there would be two of me with the same atoms in the same space/time. Matter cannot simply be duplicated. (I suspect I'm now going to get responses from quantum physics guys aren't I? - my headaches worse!!!

Time is a very difficult concept to understand. On a day to day basis ( pun intended ) - its easy. On a slightly deeper level it is as wierd as ....a very wierd thing A few observations Time and space are not seperate - they are better known as "spacetime". There are a few simple experiments to show that gravity effects time : clocks run slower at altitude than lower down because the Earths gravitational field is weaker. Velocity also influences time. Einsteins Special Theory was verified using two identical atomic clocks : one was placed in an aircraft and flown round the world at speed - and the other was kept at a fixed location. There was a measureable difference in the times recorded. The clocks had accurately recorded the time for their individual frames of reference - and they were different. Einstein predicted this in 1905 ( credit for that one ) So before we can properly dicuss time travel, we would have to have a better understanding of the nature of time itself. Time runs slower the faster you move, but only runs slower for someone observing you who does not share your motion. You would each think your own timeframe was normal and the others faster / slower. Time is just a very strange thing

Sometimes scientists want to do something, rather then stop and think if they should
All I see is a thousand dead rats lost in this experiment. You can not travel back in time, IMHO
