The x files is an excellent impartial study of the possibility of extra terrestrial life,I recommend every episode. I beleive it to be as serious a study of its subject as that wonderful most haunted programme........oops sorry over did my sarcasm pills today.Seriously, I think there is extra terrestrial life and maybe we have been visited but it is a giant leap of faith when there is very little evidence to prove it,but I did enjoy Steven Spielbergs "Taken" that made you think "what if?" more likely they are sitting on their planet wondering if their is life out there? and have their own sci fi where they meet strange aliens with only two arms and legs and a weird thing called a head on top of their grotesque bodies, and as suggested in startrek ,we probably smell too, well not me but some of you will.

People always link "Aliens" with Outer space, what about other dimensions? My husband saw these so called "Aliens" as a child. It wasn't imagination, he saw rotating lights on the bedroom ceiling, then faces at the window. The next thing he was outside in the garden, and he wasn't tall enough at that age to open the door. These experiences occured prior to the first so called alien sightings in 1947 at Roswell.
The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool...
I dont think we have ever been visited by aliens, but I do believe there is life on another planet out there some where, there has to be, we cant be so arrogant enough to think we are 'it' .
Other life forms in the universe? Undoubtedly Visiting here? Nah! don't think so.
Distances too vast and we are to inconsequential to bother with.
But ....
I remember hearing once that there were planets out there millions of years older than the earth.
If those planets did produce life on roughly the same time scale as the earth eg x amount of millions of years after it was formed then on the evolutionary scale ( or Creationism scale ) the evolutionary difference between us and them would be the equivalent of the difference between us and earthworms.
Not sure about the distance point, lots of theory at the moment about the ability to bend space,so in fact the distance would be just a short hop. It is fine in theory but at the moment no way could we produce the power needed to do it.
Great article in todays daily mail about how so many sightings of UFO's have been made by military personnel particularly during ww2. I also know a person in air traffic control who regularly sees unexplained contacts on the radar as do their colleagues and they are advised to not make official reports as it is frowned upon by the powers that be.

Thursday, August 10, 2006 It was supposed to be a harmless stunt to celebrate moving into a new house.
But it left Paul McKinney and Emma Henfrey at the centre of an X Files-style UFO investigation, after some stargazers thought they were witnessing an alien invasion.
The couple released lanterns – which can float up to 300m (1,000ft) in the air and glow bright orange and white – into the sky at their housewarming party.
It is quite funny to find out and it’s good to know the explanation’
The following day, they heard police had been bombarded with sightings of glowing lights in the sky, and decided it was best to keep quiet.
Fearing public ridicule, the couple even warned friends their party lanterns should be kept a secret.
But things got even more out of hand when the MoD launched an investigation – and the couple knew they would have to come clean.
The military experts were called in after police received 20 calls about the lights, to find out whether British airspace had been invaded. An MoD spokeswoman said: 'We examine UFO sighting reports to establish whether there is any evidence to suggest that UK airspace has been compromised by hostile or unauthorised air activity.'
Mr McKinney, 28, and Ms Henfrey, 30, had released the lanterns, which hold candles, after moving into their new home in Seaham, County Durham.
Mr McKinney said: 'I wasn't going to say anything but then my cousin saw something in the local paper about the MoD investigating, so I thought I had better own up.'
Witnesses who spotted the lanterns were convinced they were UFOs.
Harry McCall, 67, and his wife Elizabeth, 74, filmed the lights.
'I said to my wife they were UFOs until I could be convinced otherwise – and now I have been,'said Mr McCall.
'It is quite funny to find out and it's good to know the explanation'. See, the truth really is out there.
I believe: that aliens exist, in what form, I don't know, they could be anything from pond life to highly intelligent, to believe that our planet is the only one capable of sustaining life is naive.
I'm open to believing: that maybe, just maybe 1 or 2 of the millions of sightings is possibly not of this earth, if they do exist and have evolved further than us its possible they can travel through space at speeds we cant yet imagine
I don't believe that aliens hang around groom lake, stalk military bases, communicate with our government, peer over the shoulders of children in photographs, abduct people, dissect cattle, make crop circles or talk to Derek Acorah!
but they do make a great cover story for the military to hide test flights of new or experimental aircraft - triangular UFO's were very popular in the days of the stealth bomber test flights!
Of course they're here! do you really believe that technology like the transistor, the silicon chip, cds, laser discs, mobile phones and nanobots were the products of human technology? Look around- the clues are everywhere! Eight-track tapes, the Sinclair C5 and Betamax were failed experiments that were leaked onto an unsuspecting human race!
(PLEASE DON'T RESPOND -IT'S A WIND UP)
Actually, I did once see what could be described as a UFO in the skys above Devon. (Apart from the silver orb -see my post on the crop circle thread). It looked like a black triangle, hovering in the sky. Seriously - as though somebody had cut out a small piece of triangular shaped blue sky - it was totally black, refelecting no light whatsever, on a sunny afternoon. The size was very difficult to judge but it seemed to be hovering about a couple of hundred feet above the trees. Yes, it was kind of kite shaped but not at that height and that still? I observed it (from my car unfortunately) for about 15 seconds and then it was gone!

Can you tell me what part of Devon it was where you had this sighting, and also the year?

Yes - It was near Moretonhampsted - If I recall ,2005.
No I didn't think to really - wouldn't know who to actually. Have you heard of such sightings (black triangles) elswhere?
Yes, black triangle UFO sightings have become more common in the last few years, especially in America. Some people think that what people are seeing is the latest Stealth technology. Your sighting absolutely rules this particular theory out. I cant see the military testing this type of aircraft over Mortonhampstead !! There was a very interesting report on a black triangle sighting by a pilot, ( you will possibly find it on the Internet ) he reported that as he was coming into land at a local airport all the comapasses on the aircraft started to go haywire, suddenly he noticed on the ground below a perfect shadow of a large black triangle, but on looking up to see what was causing it; there was nothing there! There is a photograph of this somewhere on the Internet, its very startling ....
