Thought it made a thread title...
Well, there isn't a thread for the topic so I thought I'd open one.
I am not sure, but from what some say, more recently people have been talking about these circles as being on lay lines, or energy point. I guess they are supposed to draw the aliens, or whatever. So, I am unclear as to if this is a more recent (passed several years), or an older opinion.
I find the argument for it odd. I was watching a show that was talking about the topic, and I got a good laugh. They had a tour of people walk around a circle feeling about and talking about the strange energy there. The lead guy was going on and on about how recording devices are messed up by being inside the circle, proof of the power of the spots. No problem immediately struck me about this statement. The guy was being interviewed inside the circle, by a camera and, I guess, a boom mic. But the picture and sound quality was great. No disruption, no trouble mentioned by the TV crew. Would have made nice additional evidence, hmm? So I just had to laugh it.
So any good stories of theories about the lazy corn and wheat cliques?

Not convinced on the crop circle debate, we did a watch last year and chased round the local area when they were spottted. The one below we walked into had a good look round and low and behold in the centre under some of the straw was an indented in the ground where a pole had been placed to get the circumference of the circle. i11.Report this post to Admin please.com/albums/a155/guidedspirithunter/DSCF1883.jpg[/IMG]

I don't think crop circles are done by aliens or anything like that but I do think they are very artistic got to give them credit for that.

As an act of performance art, I have a good deal of respect for them. I can enjoy the view, work, and scale from the distance. It is just when people try imbuing added meaning and power to it all that I get off the bus. Sadly, people have a hard time just enjoying the ride.

Although there are plenty of pissed off farmers around!

I think I saw the same show tonight, it was on the Travel Channel and called "Weird Travels: Signs" (also included Stonehenge and the Nazca Lines.) I don't know about crop circles. I know some are hoaxes, as the hoaxers have admitted it, and Randi even gave a prize to some teenagers in Europe who proved how it could be done. I know a crop circle is a tourist draw, and the farmers who charge money for people to come see one are probably inclined to approve of crop circles in their fields. Some of the designs seem incredibly complex, and they must be made by large teams of people. The energy lines thing-- probably balderdash, but I dunno... I gather that most crop circles are in Great Britain, some are in Canada, and some in the USA. I'm not sure what that means, if anything.... Well, just saw the show on them tonight, so wanted to comment. Sorry it's not so helpful!

I personally think the same about crop circles as Orbs. 98% is man made ... and the other 2% might be lightning Bolts or mushrooms

has no one else seen that programe fairly recently (this year i saw it) where these guys went round with basic wooden boards on their feet and showed you how they had been doing it, the just fixed their sight on certain points in the distance to go in the right direction to make shapes and said it was really easy?

Great link Johnny - like it! They are very artistic but hardly evidence of alien activity.

it was all started by young farmers out on the beer, and it just snowballed from there, but have to admit some of the designs are bloody good.

Whoever or whatever makes the crop circles, you have to admire them even if only for their artistic elements...

they are very artisic but from a psychic point of view they seem to come from within the earth even though it sounds impossible

Back in 1991 and 1992 I had two of the best holidays of my life in Wiltshire going crop circle "hunting" in the summer. These were back in the days that I believed in pretty much anything and I completely bought into the idea of a supernatural explanation for them. I'm much more skeptical nowadays and I do begrudgingly have to admit defeat and say that they are made by people. Originally they probably were created by drunken young farmers but nowadays they have evolved so much that I am sure that they are plotted by a handful of very skilled individuals.
It's a shame for me that the mystery and excitement of them has gone. Once there was a time when just seeing a photograph of a crop circle filled me with wonder and excitement and I am quite sad that I can no longer feel that. Still, it's nice to be able to see them as beautiful works of manmade art and enjoy the creativity, skill and ballsiness that go into making them.
