'Telephone telepathy' does exist
A scientist claims 'telephone telepathy' - the feeling you get when you know someone is about to call - really does exist.
Parapsychologist Dr Rupert Sheldrake insists the phenomenon is not just coincidence.
In tests, he claims 45% of volunteers correctly "guessed" which of four randomly picked callers was about to phone them.
Repeated hundreds of times, the odds against this happening were "1000 billion to one", said Dr Sheldrake, from Cambridge University.
But his research, together with that of two other paranormal investigators, sparked huge controversy at the BA Festival of Science in Norwich.
Some leading members of the research community did not think they should have been allowed a platform at the meeting, organised by the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA).
Dr Sheldrake has previously spoken of his theory of "morphic fields" which he believes psychically connects people who have close relationships.
He said the new findings supported the idea that extra sensory perception works best between individuals with an emotional bond.

My hubby says he often knows when I'm going to phone him. He says he knows before the phone even rings. I've never had this but a few times I've just known when I've received an email from one particular person.

If you think about the millions of phone calls that are made around the world everyminute of every day it's not surprsong that there are a few conicdences where you can predict who's ringing and when they're about to ring.
I've had a couple of occasions when I've picked up the phone to dial a friend and she's already on the other end despite the phone not having rung yet at my end. I don't think it's telephone telepathy.....just coincidence assisted by the fact we used to ring at a similar time each day.

I've had that, Claire; it resulted in both of us breathing at each other in a confused way for a minute, before one of us offered a tentative "Hello?"

A few coincidences...What are the rest then?
What about the ones that happen between two people who do not call each other from one day to the next? What would be the percentage of this being a probable coincidence?

There will always be coincedences, howevergreat the odds, things somtimes just happen. You do not need to attach a paranormal explaination to such mundane things.
Again if the paranormal could create these occurences then WHY? what is the point? Why not dosomething that proves their existance instead of fannying about

Why not dosomething that proves their existance instead of fannying about But the paranormal isn't out to prove existence. It isn't the paranormal that should create occurances that prove existence it is "spirit". Sorry to be pedantic but the word paranormal being used in this way is what gets people confused about what us groups actually do. Apart from that I agree with the recent posts. If you think how many times people phone us (especially friends and family) there are bound to be times when we are thinking about a certain person and they ring. I wonder how many times we think about that same person and want or expect the phone to ring..and it doesn't. We just don't remember those times.

Thats a whole different ball game, not the same as what is supposedly happening here!
You are willing that person to ring you....A form of telepathy yes, but the telephone telepathy what is being scrutinised here is about someone thinking of you, picking up there reciever, dialing your number, then when it rings..Thatis the point of the supposed telepathic activation.

And I thought you had the number ID come up on your phone shazz..is this not the case ? If not then I am surprised by Neil knowing it was me because as you say I don't ring that often. However, you had sent out a certain email so he might have been expecting me to ring in regards to that
