I wasn't sure where to post this, so Admin, if it's in the wrong thread please move it.
I have been following the actions of the Knights of St Edmunds for quite some time. Now, as a skeptic, I'm not one to really believe in curses. But I'd like to make some comments and maybe some others will chime in with their own thoughts on this.
First off, here is the website:
www.knightsofsaintedmund.com/
so people can see and hear them and get the necessary background, if some of our UK friends aren't aware of this.
Here's my take on this: I totally agree with the feelings of the Knights. Although I'm not familar with what is currently going on in the UK, here across the Pond development has gotten entirely out of hand. We are seeing irreplaceable woodland/farmlands falling to the developer's equipment in order for more subdivisions, condominium projects. ever more shopping malls and areas etc. What is being destroyed is gone forever, and it seems the goal is to pave over the whole country.
According to our recent Supreme Court ruling, people can be forced to sell their homes for a "fair" price--which is usually below market value. They have no choice, if it is deemed the area is needed for the public good. Translate public good--rich investors want to build housing and shopping areas that will benefit THEM. There are some sad stories that come to mind, one being of an 80+ year old widow forced to sell her modest home near the ocean so that a condo project can be built. I give this as background to show that my sympathy is with not only the Knights but all people who see the loss of historical places and homes for the benefit of "progress" as a very sad thing.
So the Knights of St. Edmunds have cursed the developers. Can't blame them, but the question arises as to whether curses are real or not. Even though I don't really believe in them, I for one was quite impressed and a bit apprehensive after watching and listening to the Knights go about their ritual. Even if curses don't exist, there is still a powerful feeling emitted when seeing something like this.
I was wondering if anyone in the UK can shed more light on this and/or have an opinion about curses like this. To tell the truth, they did send a chill up my spine. Maybe we need them to come over here to the States and curse some of these ticky-tacky houses being built over once beautiful countryside areas.
Thanks for reading this wordy post, but I wanted to cover as many points as I could. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
