Anyone see the Horizon programme last night? Theory is that we may have all evolved from bacteria from outer space falling billions of years ago - theory called Panspermia.
If we did though, does it really matter? Do you think we spend too much on space exploration and research into such matters i.e finding life on other planets etc.
Wouldn't we be better spending the vast amount of money on improving our planet rather than trying to visit others.

If we started off as bacteria, I know a fair few people who haven't evolved much, to be honest.

But if life here began as a result of an asteroid hitting the earth eons ago with a smattering of alien bugs,DNA or whatever on it and that is what kick started life here. Would we not resemble our " hosts" in some fashion.

but we dont know what the host look like do we? so we might look like em Yep i know. But in so many sighting or such the alien is often referred to as "humanoid". But really it come down to the debate, did life start from this planet or was it a asteroid from another planet that gave the impetuous for life to begin. The shape, the atmosphere we live in are all of interest but so much of sciences understanding and beliefs of the beginnings of life are based on life started here from what was, shall we say lying around. If that is not the case it has huge implications

so in effect, are we alienoid?

So if our origins are from outer space - this could mean that there are other planets somewhere with life similar to ours - maybe many of them.
But again - what good would it do us as a human race if we found life on other planets? We spend billions on space exploration - isn't this a waste of money? The equipment we send into outer space may get lost or destroyed without actually serving the purpose it was intended for. What about the astronauts who have been killed during space exploration - and for what purpose?
We have millions of people dying in our world from simple things like a lack of food and clean water - it doesn't make any sense in my opinion.

Many good points here but remember that without the space programme we would not have velcro, now somebody tell me where the world would be without it.

Even if this was so, we still evoloved through a vast period of time and planitary conditions to bring about the 'us' we are today, unless you mean homosapiens themselves are direcctly connected to space-dust? Otherwise, I can't see a huminoid connection being likely as the begginings of life itself took a different form from what it is today in almost every case.

it would be foolish to think were the only ones of our kind, but do we evolve from aliens? its a possibility i guess, since i dont believe god made us, evoloution to me is the obvious answer, but from aliens? darwin must have missed that
