For anyone who still thinks this crap is live, how on earth did I just see an edit, lol Right before Yvette starts to sing at roughly 35 minutes or so.

I spotted something else last night. It was the bit when Brian was going on about the 'grill' and the shroud. It cut to a break but before the break was a pre-edited recap, and all that stuff about the 'grill' was in the edited recap just seconds after he said it. Is that really possible if it's live?

It pains me to say it, but I took part behind the scenes in the live show at Pendle Hill (part of an on-the-job training thing). Can't really knock the people in the team I worked with, as they were a tight, friendly crew. There was an hour or thirty minute delay between the filming taking place and transmission (which I think is common practice with most 'live' shows), which would give any editor enough time to erase or insert a 'correction'.

a few years ago there would be about 5/6 hours between filming and airing, in which time they would usually add Green tints

In fact I think non believers are more frightened than believers.

Not scary at all; I monitored all the email / online form responses that came in relating to one of the webcams. The deal was that four webcams were placed around the 'haunted' site and viewers were asked to contact us when (or if) they spotted something strange. The alarming thing was the number of responses we had (I must have looked through at least 2000 emails during each three hour show, and there were four of us in total (one for each webcam).
The delay was definitely only an hour at most - I've just dug out my production schedule (30/31 October / 1 November 2004) and we started at 20:00h, and I believe the show was broadcast on Living at 21:00h.

Hi DSM
The webcams always went live 30-6o- mins before transmission , so did the cameras but the actual programme was subject to just the usual few seconds delay common to satellite transmissions.

Of course I should qualify that....... It was "almost" live apart from those occassions when pre records were used .....MLD being the most infamous example

Were you ever tempted to slip a joke message on screen? If you did, what was it and did you get away with it?

Alas, we were not trusted enough to place the messages at the bottom of the screen . We were asked to keep an eye out for interesting emails or clusters (ie 'Mark from Birmingham and Sarah from Ipswich have both just seen a...', or 'our kettle exploded when Derek asked Sam for guidance...). We wrote those observations into bite sized text which was then given to someone who would then run it across the screen if any good. The temptation was there to make something up, but I didn't, being the good little boy that I am... Fruitbat, you're right of cause; there was a moment when a member of the crew stood in front of the webcam and a few seconds later I'm hit by dozens of people claiming to have seen a ghost / witch / weird dog-like creature. I mean, wtf? I try to keep an open mind (within reason), but I do not know if to feel sorry for or anger towards these viewers.
