I have always understood psychic surgery to be a procedure that doesn't use medical tools. Obviously there are 'Psychic Surgeons' who use implements and actually break the skin with them. To me, at that point it becomes 'surgery', but it's an interesting question.

This Edna lady who had the rib removed.
She claimed no marks where left.
Now I am as you realise a little into this stuff but I do find that , em, shall we say, economic with the truth.
Don't get me wrong her experience is her experience but I think that these things improve with the telling
Dammit I've been reading to much of the stuff you guys have written, help I am sinking.

;D As far as the 'rib removal' goes, this just sounds like the 'traditional' psychic surgery with the slight of hand, chicken giblets etc
Over what time period did this open wound heal, and how deep was it?
'All through this short life we give of ourselves, giving and giving and slowly diminishing. Leaving a mark that will gradually fade, ash in the breeze, snowballs in negative.'
The puzzle still remains, how did an open wound heal.
The issue is really down to three things. What he told you he was doing, what you believed he was doing and what he actually did to you.
This 'surgery' was on the back of your neck. Unless you had mirrors/cameras etc set up, all you had was 'sensation', you saw the 'lance' and the scissors, you had the sensation of the scissors cutting into the open wound, but did you actually see the wound?
You say that "he" was covered in blood. Was there anyone actually close enough to watch him cut that wound and verify it was YOUR blood you were seeing and not some parlour trick? The production of blood to order is the bread and butter to successful 'psychic surgeons'. Did anyone actually 'see' the scissors inside your skin, or did they just think they did?
Imagine if perhaps the end of that 'spike' was in fact very sharp, needle sharp lets say and he 'pierced the lump with it, therefore draining it. Imagine if the rest of the experience was what he WANTED you to believe, manipulating your skin, letting you see the scissors, prodding you a bit, maybe even telling you what he was going to do? Add a bit of blood (misdirection), and you have 'surgery' when in fact all you have had is a pinprick and a bit of scratching about. Leaving you with the line you stated you had.
As Bob already stated, that pinprick 'wound' will clot pretty damn quick.
You didn't see a large wound, you 'thought' you had one, mainly due to the blood and the implements 'used', the audience will also see the same, and that's exactly the whole point of the trick.

It healed before I returned to my seat in the hall so, one minute I guess.
The lump was appx 1/2 inch wide and stuck out enough to prevent we wearing a collar without discomfort.
The first instrument used was about the thickness of a six inch nail and the scissors were smallish and hooked. I can remember seeing my mum taking stitches out of clothing with a very similar pair.
So after my neck was punctured about 1/2 inch deep (and that of course is a guess we all know rt hat a piece of grit in the eye feels like a house brick)
Then the scissors were inserted and he made about three cuts with them. You could hear them crunching quite clearly as they cut the flesh. It sounded like gristle being cut. He then pressed with his thumb on my neck and that was that.
There was a small dark mark on my neck when I checked it, but of course others in the hall had a look before I ever saw it. It was dry and competely sealed.
One thing I will add. He said that I would feel nothing but believe me I felt everything.

Now that is what I call an excellent explanation.
It was either as you say, or I really had this operation.
It depends on your perception of things I guess.
You are right in all that you say, but we will never agree.
Basically I had been to the doctors with a lump on the back of my neck. The doctor said that he would lance it for me at a later date.
As the doctor said he would lance it at a later date - it was more than likely a boil.
Mr Turoff drove a spike into the back of my neck, oddly enough about the size of a six inch nail, and there was a bit of a pop.
The 'pop' would be because he did not lance it but rather pierced it; how do you know how much of the 'nail' he 'drove' into your neck.
Then he drove it in further, and there was a second pop.
You think he did because that's what he wanted you to think - you had your back to him.
By now he had blood all over him and the people watching were making that noise you hear when someone has just trodden in dog muck and walked it all over the living room carpet whilst they were enjoying their McDonald's.
You are assuming it was YOUR blood. He was more like to have pus on him, but let's be honest blood looks far more impressive.
Anyone could have done it of course.
Anyone who enjoys popping other people's boils, providing they can find someone daft enough to let them do it!!
I sincerely hope you bathed your 'miraculous' operation site with anticeptic - otherwise you are likely to get a lot more, as your psychic surgeon may well have allowed the staphylococcus bacteria to spread all over your neck.
You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
I received a PM from David Hobbs today , can I just say I'm not him, I'm me, I don't know who he is and not sure why I was dragged into this thread/topic but I'd like to say I've not met him before or spoken to him. I can't prove this ofcourse but I just wanted to pipe up as I received the pm letting me know someone thought we were the same person. Feel free to check my I.P. etc
I hope this reduces the paranoia slightly, cheers.

There will be no deletion of posts here, we encourage debate. It would appear that we are not threatened by different points of view, one could posit we were a bit "Open Minded"
Paranoia?? Why did you say that?? What did you mean?? Are you saing I'm paranoid??? Who sent you??? Is that you in the black van outside my house?
'All through this short life we give of ourselves, giving and giving and slowly diminishing. Leaving a mark that will gradually fade, ash in the breeze, snowballs in negative.'
So tell me about you experiences with psychic surgery.
I can't wait.
David, your posts are sounding more and more like 'I've had the procedure so I'm the only person who can legitimately comment comment on it'. 'If you were not there, how could you know?'.
Can you not accept the fact you may have actually been conned?
