Nina Knowland - 'The art of not knowing when to shut up'
I really do hate having to repeat myself, but people like Knowland insist on forcing me to. I could just print the link to the original article on her like this:
badpsychics.com/thefraudfiles/modules/news/article.php?storyid=603
and be done with it, but Nina has obviously never heard of the phrase, 'When you're in a hole, stop digging'.
As you will be aware, Nina is a 'spiritual healer' although she lists no medical training or experience on her website, just Counselling Skills Module 1, Counselling Skills Module 2, Certificate in working with special needs Children and some worthless certificates from the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.
At the time of writing the original article, Knowland was the subject of a piece in the Wiltshire Times were she was seeking children with cystic fibrosis to "benefit" from her skills. Her skills being 'special needs children' according to her qualifications, and a child with cystic fibrosis is not 'special needs' in that respect. I failed to see how her 'skills' could benefit them. That is until I looked at the rest of her website.
This is where it all gets a bit 'grubby'.
Knowland claims on her website that despite her lack of medical training and experience, and I QUOTE (You'll see the relevance of the use of capitols later)...
"Some successfully treated conditions so far". In fact, here's a screen shot taken of her website at the time:
You see the word cancer on there? Yes, Nina Knowland, on her own website, has claimed to have "successfully treated" cancer, without any medical training or experience.
Obviously it didn't take long for word to get around the forums that Knowland had basically performed a miracle, successfully treating cancer without any medical experience, training, surgical procedures or medication. Shortly after that happened, a curious event took place. Nina changed her website, oh look, here's another screen shot of HER website;
Now isn't that strange? The word 'cancer' is now missing from the list.....Even more curious was shortly after THAT her website changed yet again...now where did I put it, oh... here it is...
Spot the difference this time? You've got it. It no longer says "successfully treated", it now says "successfully ALLEVIATED conditions"...how very, very strange......
Even a screen shot of her website today shows that she is using a 'testimonial' to advertise her 'abilities' of treating cancer:
"The bone scan showed that the sternum had less density of the Cancer. It Is my opinion that Nina's Healing helped achieve this result."
The very good people over on UKSkeptics.org.uk were as interested in Knowlands claims (and subsequent website changes) as much as we were on BadPsychics, which tied in nicely to a thread they were running about another 'Spiritual Healer' at the time.
I hope John over at UKSkeptics won't mind me quoting this from his forum, but a person appeared on his site called 'Spiritual Surgeon' who felt that 'spiritual healers' were getting a raw deal:
"you are using the excuse that people like Nina Knowland and Gary Mannion who I know of both are out to take money off people with no result. why do you constantly have to attack people who are honestly helping other's"
In fact 'Spiritual Surgeon' doesn't just 'know' Nina Knowland, she IS Nina Knowland. I find that quite sad.
Having changed her website, pretended to 'know' herself on a forum (and got caught out, well done John) you would have thought that it was a good time to just take a back seat and hope it all goes away. Not Knowland.
She later responded with:
"There are other issues here that you obviously are not aware of as it is a local matter, the case is being dealt with by the local police, I will be passing on the information I now have thanks to your site. I cannot make any more comment's, I have been advised not to do so."
How very odd? "Local matters"? "The local Police"? Odder still? But hey, at least she has "been advised not to do so", she fails to mention who advised her, but at least that should be the end of it.
Not Knowland. Obviously her 'advisor' is on holiday at the moment, you see Nina has decided to, how can I put this?... Erm....
Many incredibly gifted Psychics, Mediums, Healers named on this site and Alternative Therapists are continually hounded by Sceptics on sites such as..

I had better give you a screen shot, as I know what she's like for 'alterations'....
There we go, thats better. Anyway, Knowland seems to have taken a dislike to 'Hayley', a member of both BadPsychics and UKSceptics, specifically naming her, and even going so far as to have her picture at the top of the page (which I have omitted due to the fact that Hayley is sure she has a better one somewhere...)
Knowland whines yet again:
"The truth is I had offered to help children (no charge) with Cystic Fibrosis, it is a condition near to my heart which I feel strongly about, I had already written and consulted the Chief Executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust with my offer of help."
You may well have Nina, but you fail to tell us what the response was. Tell you what, you don't have to, Hayley has found out the response for you. I'll paraphrase the letter:
Thank you for bringing to our attention details of the newspaper article from Nina Knowland. We do share your concerns about this, as with other such promises or statements, many of which can cause considerable harm, especially to those who are desperate or vulnerable.
We will certainly keep an eye on the situation and if the problem rears its head at all, we will certainly do something about it.
With Kind regards
Chief Executive

So, I'm not sure how well your 'consultation' with the Chief Executive went really Nina......
Hayley I have never claimed to cure Cancer and I never promise any cure for any condition
Really Nina? How else would you define "Successfully treated"? See the first screen shot from YOUR OWN WEBSITE. (See, i told you the capitols would become clear later, you just don't trust me do you?...)
Unless you can PROVE and have EVIDENCE to confirm what you are saying, kindly keep your opinions to yourself and leave us to do what we do best and that is helping others.
Dammit, she's heard about my use of capitol letters and fighting back. So, you need proof and evidence do you Nina? Let me have little rummage around in my bag marked "PROOF and EVIDENCE"...right... Oh.. hang on.... its your OWN WEBSITE Nina! How ironic is that eh? Blimey, you couldn't make it up could you...
The Internet Nina, its a wonderful place, even if you hit the 'delete' button on your website, it hangs around like an underage Chav outside 'Bargain Booze' on a Friday night.
