I understand that Jehova's Witnesses cannot accept re-assimilation of their own blood during surgery either.
The Watchtower has a section about how husbands and wives should behave to each other. In keeping with most Christians, husbands are to care for and protect his wife, and preside over his family like a kind of mini God. The wife is, of course, expected to help her husband in every way, and obey him. Now I am not a raging feminist, (I do, however, believe that every woman is a feminist) but I refuse to see why I should 'obey' somebody who is my equal. He's not better than me. We are of equal importance in our relationship. He might be physically stronger than me, but that is the extent of his superiority. He laughed himself silly reading this section the other night. Eve was created from Adam's rib....PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS!!!

I attended a cousins and thought" i like the sound of that" Told the wife we were converting and i was her master. Didn't go down well.

The Jehova's Witness was a no-show. I wonder what that means.

I once worked with an ex-Jehovah's Witness...and when he learned that I was a Spiritualist he told me in no uncertain terms that I mustn't have anything to do with them. ( He was only 'ex' because he no longer practised that religion for some reason - he had lapsed a following.) He said that he would bring me a book to read, and I had replied "OK - but you read one of mine in exchange." He never did, because he had been brainwashed too well...but, when I returned his book - which was the equivalent of the Bible - he asked me what I had thought about it. He wasn't at all amused when I told him I thought it was a bloody good fairy story. I also had a young man call round to my home one day, and instead of him giving me all his spiel - I got in first. Every time he asked me a question - I countered with an answer that confused him because it was spiritual related within the Bible. I also made it clear that I did not agree with their principle of denying blood transfusions even if it was to save life. He was so interested in what I had to say and asked if he could call back the next day to talk more. I told him yes, but it wouldn't change my mind. He returned next day with another young lad, and asked me to tell him again what I had spoken of the previous day. Whether I 'converted' them or not, I don't know, but I certainly gave them food for thought. When asked if I believed in Jesus - I relied - "Yes, he was the greatest medium of all time; he healed the sick and he spoke to the dead."

f I were to flatter myself, I would say that what I had said to him had made him uncomfortable with or question his beliefs, and he had to go straight away and 'touch base' with the other JWs. I've read through a link that someone provided on here that their communities are like 'lightning rods' for them, places where they need to return to top up their faith and get rid of any ideas of questioning their beliefs.
If I were to be honest, he was probably involved in some kind of accident which rendered him unable to travel to my house. If that's not the case, though, has he committed a sin against his religion by lying about returning to talk to me the following week?

incidentally in the latest episode of familyguy (series 6 episode 17) the evil monkey that lives in chris's closet has now turned into a jehovas witness and now bursts out of the closet pointing his finger as usual but wearing a suit and tie and holding a copy of the watchtower.

I enjoy the JWs coming. I tell them that my birthday is 25 June....Half way between Christmas. My initials are JC and one of my hobbies is turning water into wine. I also do my own carpentry. I am the anti-christ!! That does shock them!!
Also ask about this bible story.....
Lot left Zoar and retired with his two daughters to a cave in an adjacent mountain. In Gen. 19:30-38, Lot's daughters incorrectly believed they were the only females to have survived the devastation. They assumed it was their responsibility to bear children and enable the continuation of the human race. On two subsequent nights, according to the plan of the older daughter, they got their father drunk enough to have sexual intercourse with them, drunk enough that he is described as being unaware of what was happening. By him each became pregnant. The first son was named Moab (Hebrew, lit., "from the father" [meh-Av]). He was the patriarch of the nation known as Moab. The second son was named Ammon or Ben-Ammi (Hebrew, lit., "from our nation"). He became the patriarch of the nation of Ammon.
Is it possible for a man to be so drunk that he will have sex with his own daughters and not remember??

That's the great thing about fiction. Anything is possible. The amazing thing about it for me is that people base their whole lives on it. Who'd've thunk it, eh?

When I was a committed Methodist I used to go in for long conversations with JWs who doorstopped me, even inviting them in for an hour or two (if I had the time).
The whole Bible (and Koran and Talmud - my misspelling) are just so full of inconsistencies that all you need to do before the next visit is open it up and make a note of all the killings, adulteries and just plain silly statements written by a bunch of power mad editors to keep the gullible and hopeful in line.
One I seem to remember is that in Revelations 7 it states 3] Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. [4] And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
so at the time of woes if there are 144 thousand and ONE JW, that extra JW is going to be in a world of hurt - literally. I then ask why they are still trying to recruit.

Because they are mental. The JW who knocked at my door claimed that when the Last Day came, God would make us all immortal. When I asked him how there would be room for us all to live on the earth forever, he just said 'I am sure that Our Lord will have thought of that'. You just can't argue with someone who thinks that God will iron out any inconsistencies in their story.

I think they blacklist addresses which are hostile to them.
You can spot them a mile off because they wear really expensive coats and walk around in twos and threes.

They often come down our street, as you say they can spot you a mile off. They haven't been to my house for ages though, perhaps because I was so disgusted when two men showed up and they had a little girl (about 8-10) to do the talking !
Manipulative bas-tards.

In defense of the last lot who visited our estate.
The time before when they called, I was having a particularly bad time with ex over religion with the children. Two women knocked at the door. I told them that religion had destroyed the my live and I didn't want to hear what they had to say. I broke down. They were very kind - in a non religious way - and they went.
The same two women were on the estate last week. They called next door, had a discussion by the steps leading to my house and went away. I was relieved.
I don't suppose it will happen again! But it seems they did remember the distruaght woman they were faced with previously.
