And there was me thinking that the Catholic doctrine was a bunch of nonsense made up by deluded old men with a dangerous agenda.. How nice of them: tinyurl.com/ynnpjhWhich begs the question, although I doubt any believer would think this: If that part of my religion is "wrong"...what ELSE is wrong? Huh? can I hear that being said anywhere?...hello? Hellooooo? This is funny when you think of the popes other ramblings that hell is a real place blah blah... " So its like this, the room where we send babies to rot in nothingness for ever is *not real* ok?...but the other room where you burn to hell forever *is* real..ok? honestly, its real , trust me you must believe.. did you get that at the back?" Monty Python couldnt have made *that* up. Fools.

Is the Pope allowed to go around abolishing things willy nilly? Oh it wasn't willy-nilly..they had a meeting of in-depth theological and reasoned arguments...*cough* So yeah he can do what he likes...I wonder when his god will privately reveal to him that its probably not a good idea to be against condoms in a country ravished by AIDS...

Catholicism has a kind of "deal" with god. Basically any doctrine laid by man must be duplicated/replicated/adhered to in heaven also. The pope abolishing limbo is just a tip of the cap to modern thinking. Limbo doesnt hold the fear for the masses (no pun intended) as it once did, and so is no longer a tool for the faithful.

>>>We cannot know with certainty what will happen" when an unbaptised baby dies, said panel member Paul McPartlan. "But we have good grounds to hope that God in his mercy and love looks after these children and brings them to salvation," he said, quoted by the Catholic News Service. <<<< We have good grounds to 'hope' So, he knows jack, and basically they are just guessing! I find the whole idea extraordinarily of bad taste, bloody religious nuts!

Nah, I think what really happened is that Pope Benny was chatting on the phone to his boss about it, and they agreed that keeping the Limbo Nursery open just wasn't financially feasible, so they decided to close it down and send all the kiddies to a different nursery*.
It's all perfectly above board.
* Isn't it obvious though? If God is omniscient, then he would surely know if a baby that dies was going to grow up to believe in him or not. So what's the point in Limbo anyway? Naturally, I think it's just another one of those "what can we get those gullible fools to believe in this time?" thing.

Again, its the battle for the souls thing isnt it, limbo was established to ensure all babies were christened so god could collect even more souls for the balance at the end times. Woe betide anyone who didnt get their babies christened, they were seperated from their families in heaven. What an utterly b***cks caveat to catholicism.

I wasn't christened, which 34 years ago was quite something. Neither was my sister, and 45 years ago, this was even more of a big deal. Good old dad.
