Recycling isn't just a recent concern, then?

A few years ago I visited a similar "Chapel of Bones" in Faro, Portugal. Very artistic but a complete waste of fertilizer!

Can I just ask if you posted this up because of Dan Cruickshanks "adventures with buildings" being on this week.
I'd never heard of or seen this place until I followed your link, then whilst having my breakfast this afternoon I used the "catch up TV on Demand" function to watch the programme, and this Ossuary was the 2nd item!
It seems strange to see it twice within 24 hours, but I wondered if you'd seen the programme when it was on live and that was what prompted you to post up.

Ah Thanks Rousseua I knew there had to be a rational explanation. Is that Fizzgig as your avatar? (sorry to keep asking questions, I should have put that in the last post)
