According to Amanda Reuz, a woman who apparently never met a form of woo she didn't like: How on earth did I manage to miss this amazing discovery? I've e-mailed Ms Reuz to ask where these tests took place and if the results were published in a peer reviewed journal. It would also be interesting to know exactly who "experienced miracles".

According to Amanda Reuz, a woman who apparently never met a form of woo she didn't like: ;D Great description ;D Although, In Ms Reuz's defence, Reiki has succesfully cured many people of the common cold. One week they had it, the next it was gone. Miraculous! Doctors are amazed and astounded at this new breakthough. Oh wait...no they're not.

I once cut my finger, i put a plaster on it and then had some reiki on it. A few days later i took the plaster off and the cut was healed!
So come on you sceptics how do you explain that then

It would have healed itself anyway Jon. Did you put one of those plasters on it that report to be able to heal wounds faster? Waiving their bloody hands over it wouldn't have made any difference to the healing process, or do you think otherwise?

I suspect a hint of sarcasm on Jons post there, Star.

I've had a reply from Ms Reuz:
Needless to say I visited the site to which Ms Reuz directed me, which - gasp! - said absolutely NOTHING about these amazing tests.
Watch this space...

True Reiki practitioners will NOT claim Reiki "cures" anything. As it says on the website, it HELPS with the effects of chemotherapy. It can HELP make someone feel better. I've experienced Reiki several times, and I found it does help (I was skeptical of it at first). But it's like any other salve---it's only temporary.

I've just thought of what I think might be the definitive argument against this type of thing. A nurses uniform is a common sexual fantasy for men. How many blokes would say to their wives 'Do you fancy putting on the Reiki Practitioner costume tonight?'

So come on you sceptics how do you explain that then There's absolutely no evidence that reiki was responsible for the healing. More likely was that someone prayed for you and God healed your finger.

A small but heartening success - I e-mailed Reuz again to point out that the site to which she directed me said nothing about scientific tests. Her reply:

Although Reuz made changes to her site I still brought her to the attention of Thurrock Trading Standards, who confirmed that her original mention of cancer WAS a breach of the Cancer Act. In his reply Mr Terry Everett of Thurrock TS also mentioned something that would never have occurred to me:
I've asked him to confirm that the Distance Selling Regulations do in fact apply to so-called "distant healing". If this is indeed the case a lot of woo websites will have to be re-worded!

I got an email today from Amanda
Hello I have just noticed something written on your website (for which I have tried to register with to try and respond to). But it mentions my name on the following article: badpsychics.com/badghosts/modules/news/article.php?storyid=90 I feel the need to write this because whoever wrote this about me has made a mistake and its been very upsetting to me. To put you in the picture I had copied some frequently asked questions about reiki from a very large american reiki organistion (which I though I would do because they must be reputable etc etc). However one of the questions mentioned something about reiki curing certain illnesses, and although I had incorporated some of this onto my website (in good faith that it was good information) I received an email from someone asking me to give further details about this so I pointed them in the direction of the American website to see if they can help, then also removed that same information from my website too in hindsight that it may not be good information (we all live and learn!!). Then after that, I noticed that this has all been written about me on your website - maybe its from the same person who emailed me to ask me about it, but I am not sure! I have to point out though that this was all to do with information that was completely not generated by me originally. Now it seems that "someone" has decided to attack this on the internet on this forum without even telling me or giving me the benefit of trying to ask me further about this!! I wouldn't mind but the wording that this all stemmed from was not even mine! So I would just like to say that in fairness, I am simply a Reiki master who just wants to help people, not upset anyone, just help them. I am sure that many other reiki people use these same questions and answers on their website's too. The claims that were made in these questions and answers were not my claims and there was no malice or unlawful intention there whatsoever. Is there any way you can take this page off your website? It is misleading as the information spoken about is not my information it belongs to the reiki organisation in ameria and now I am taking the rap for something that is not even my fault and now its unfairly displayed like this on the website. Please can you reply to me and let me know as soon as possible. thanks very much. Kind regards Amanda

So basically she did no research and since someone else did and proved it to be false she doesn't want to take responsibility? Learn to read and study before you put things up on your website, especially when it comes to the law.
