I really don't have a problem with mediums charging I just thought as he was getting expenses and a hotel thrown in as well that £500 seemed a little steep! There aren't that many people out there that earn 500 quid for one nights "work" and earn 100%gp from it! I have to admit £500 is a bit steep if your getting a hotel thrown in aswell. I also think most people would give their time free to help out a charity, whether they be sceptics, believers or what ever.

I agree £500 seems steep for a medium. But that is not what you are paying for,you are paying because someone is "famous". After all George Bests son is doing the rounds of the clubs simply because he is ,well his son, nothing more. Sad but that is the TV culture we live in.

Junior doctors are a whole different issue, we could bring footballers and all sorts into this but that is a differnt type of earnings... I was referring to people in the "entertainement" i class it is that as I dont know what else to call it....... This is about the going rate when you refer to my above examples of poeple who in theory are providing a similar service, they provide a service for the evening The entertainment label is at the heart the issue. If one is paying for a celebrity entertainer then £500 is typical. I wouldn't advise anybody to pay any money to see a medium for anything other than entertainment...

I just saw Lawman for the first time on a MH episode on Travel Channel, so went to the link for his fansite given in the first post to check him out. Interesting, to say the least. He's definitely an entertainer, given his past careers have included modelling and dancing, wouldn't you say? Specializing in the spirits of dead gangsters is a new one, though...

The boys will be waiting for you on the other side.

It's about supply and demand.
If he's charging £500 plus expenses it's because people are willing to pay it.
I don't blame him.
