The boy and girl were delivered by Caesarian section. Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has given birth to twins in a French hospital, her doctor confirmed.
Dr Michel Sussmann said: "The parents and the babies are in excellent health. Everything is fine."
He said the C-section had been planned for a long time but the date was brought forward "for medical reasons".
The twins have been named Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline and were born at around 8pm on Saturday.
It is thought Jolie's partner, Brad Pitt, was by her side.
Knox Leon was reported to weigh five pounds while Vivienne Marcheline 5.02 pounds. Knox (Round-topped hill - origin English) Leon (Latin in origin and meaning Lion) and Vivienne (Latin and French for alive) Marcheline (apparently Angelinas mums name although her real name was Marsha Lynn according to a yahoo site but changed to Marcheline to make it sound more, well more another name other than Marsha)! Knox hmmm and Marcheline, well what next?

I really don't like it when celebrities give their children silly names. It just smacks of a publicity stunt.
Think Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow naming their daughter Apple. Made front-page news in many tabloids.

I kinda like the names , Viviennes a pretty normal name , and Knox is unusual as a first name but is quite a common second name in Scotland . And lets face it with a second name including PITT you would want something a little more beautiful or different . As long as the name isnt utterly mental like Moonunit or Versace or in one well documented case of twins in Glasgow Dolce and Gabbana whats the harm in being a little creative with names ?

oh dear! uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080724/tod-nzealand-name-offbeat-7f81b96.html WELLINGTON (AFP) - A New Zealand judge has ordered a name change for an embarrassed nine-year-old girl called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii, a local newspaper reported Thursday. The girl was so embarrassed that she had not revealed the name given by her parents to friends, who simply knew her as K, the Taranaki Daily News said. Family court judge Rob Murfitt said in a judgement made in February -- but not released until Thursday -- that oddball monikers created social hurdles as children grew up. "She fears being mocked and teased and in that she has a greater level of insight than either of her parents," he said of the girl. The judge discovered New Zealand parents had given their children some other unusual names including Number 16 Bus Shelter and Midnight Chardonnay, both of which may relate to the conception of the child. One child was named Violence and two pairs of twins were called Benson and Hedges and Fish and Chips. The children from one family were all named after six-cylinder Ford cars.

As long as I can call my kids 'shut up' and 's*d off' everything will be fine.

My daughter had a boy in her class called Blue Dye, there was a dinner lady called Ann Onion and a helper called Annette Curtain. The worst one I have heard is Phyllis McCracken!
