The lady materialised on the right of this photo is a materialisation in the further stages of development Actually - are you sure it's the lady on the right who is dead? Dunno about her being in the process of materialisation; the old boy on the left looks in the later stages of decomposition. Regardless, he doesn't look happy. Maybe he was expecting lap dancers.

And why would a spirit come back as an old woman anyway? We are always told that you revert back to about 30 years old in your prime lol

Helen was x-rayed nothing was found!!! <SNIP> Just to clarify this one point, Gary, Duncan and her husband arrived at Price's lab to learn he wanted to x-ray her stomach prior to a seance. She became upset and walked out. Ten or twenty minutes later the couple returned, smoothed things over with Price and allowed the x-ray, at which time nothing was found. It is fairly obvious that during Duncan's absence she removed the cheescloth from its hiding place within her person.

It could be either a man or a woman in a sheet, actually, perhaps even Duncan's husband. I thought the same about the gentleman on the left; he seems blurry (probably moved) in contrast to the sharp focus on the "spirit's" face-- proving to me, at least, that the cameraman knew where to point the camera. Has this photo been examined by photography experts for evidence of trickery or double-exposure??

If that is a real spirit, then why did earlier ones look like Punch and Judy lol And why would a spirit manifest wearing a sheet anyway lol. Think critically Gary and stop just accepting everything blindly. The 'punch and judy' ones as you refer to them were the very early stages of trying to extract and mould ectoplasm.... its not a sheet but just asmooth cover of ectoplasm which is used to save energy.... im not accepting everything blindly.... first of all i believe in life after death theres nothing that will change my mind there because i have had more than enough personal proof which i think is what people need until its proven independently by science although that was already done by scientists of the past but now in this age of film it needs to be recorded?.... what i would also say is that through my own experience i have came to the conclusion that certain physical mediums of the past were genuine, i dont believe every photo of physical phenomena is genuine it depends who the medium was and if i feel through reading the different testimonies of the people who sat with them or speaking to people who sat with them or receiving communication from them or about them then as they are no longer about on our physical world for me to sit with them personally then i have to go on that... i know you may not like that but you call them fake blindly without maybe never reading the many testimonies to their work from scientists to everyday people?

Just to clarify... ectoplasm was still produced? and also she had a normal stomach and not a second like was suggested? even if it was as you say cheese cloth how could anyone swallow all of that into themselves so that none could be seen in their mouth then regurgitate it all back out in seconds and swallow it all back in seconds? even if anyone could do that it dosent explain how the ectoplasm formed into hands? or full forms? or how it appeared to be liquid, solid, gas? how it could lift things in the air?

I'm still mystified as to how magicians do a lot of their magic, like saw people in half! I kinda think I know but then I'll wonder how come the feet move? Or when the side of the box is opened you can only see the leg and not a squashed up person.?
I think it's amazing, but if they told me how they do everything then it just wouldn't be the same.
Maybe thats how it is for people who believe without question. I'm not including you in that Gary. They don't want to question that it might be untrue because then they'd have to look at the rest of their beliefs.

Aaaaah......... this thread is so useful!
Whenever I feel in need of a chuckle, I click on this and have a look at Helen Duncan's puppets, and laugh lotsly.
I'm sorry, but even if I was the most rabid believer in the history of history, I just know that I couldn't be gullible enough to think that these absolutely RIDICULOUS efforts were genuine manifestations of spirit. Unless spirit has one hell of a sense of humour.
Quite frankly, anyone who thinks they are genuine must have a paper maché head stuffed with muslin too.
