Why does Derek Acorah have groupies?oops followers it is not like he is special or anything or is it they think they can get to him maybe become a new wifey. Does Colin Fry and Tony Stockwell have a harem of male and female admirers too. I have always thought this.

I think people like to think that they are so giving and generous to give their time and - in Derek's case, because of how he constipated he looks at times - how they look to be in pain doing it. ;D

I'm sure Colin and Tony do have just as many fans. What's your point?
I remember a time where someone I know here had his picture displayed on their mantal. And by the pictures I have seen, this person looks awfully enamered by Mr. Acorah. A fan perhaps? A fan who started a forum on behalf of Mr. Acorah? Why? Because she admired him? Could that be considered a groupie? In some corners yes, I think so. There are many reasons why a person admires another, famous or not so. A fan who started a forum on behalf of Mr. Acorah? Why? Because she admired him? Could that be considered a groupie? In some corners yes, I think so. There are many reasons why a person admires another, famous or not so. Does it make it wrong? Probably not. If they chose to go to every single one of any of their shows buy all of their books, publications etc. thats their choice. And, why should you be concerned, as you have said on many occassions "it's none of your business." Instead of spewing anger and showing what appears to be a womans scorn from forum to forum, please try and do something a little more constructive with your time.

I have a question. Is it the fault of the admired that people choose to admire them?
To admire someone is the personal choice of the admirer. If one chooses to think that Derek is worthy of their admiration and respect, then who am I to question their personal choice. Athletes, singers, actors, musicians and many other professions have zealous fans that some would label as groupies. I for one find it hard to believe that anyone could hero worship or admire an actor, musician or singer .... but there you go just shows that other people have different perspectives than myself.
Why would you think that people who admire and respect Derek would only be doing so because they have other less than honorable intentions? Or did I completely misread what you wrote. Can people not love the man as a fellow human being, admire the work that he does and want to show him the respect that they believe he deserves without some trying to describe it in less than appropriate terms.

Admire the work Derek Acorah does? What work? Pretending to be a medium, making money off people who think he has some special link to their deceased loved ones? Starring in a scripted "ghost towns" show that makes Mr. Acorah seem to be a hero? Really??
Well, if people want to admire a phony like Acorah, it's their call, but I think it's a bad choice.

Derek has many groupies, male and female i witnessed them first hand at his show in Brum. I found it quite disturbing that so many WOMEN were treating this man like a messiah, and some like he was Robbie Williams. He is a middle aged scouser, yet these women would happily sleep with him if given the chance.
And then there is the gay brigade, who bring shame on all normal gays by wanting to shag Derek.

I dont understand why anyone can idolise another person to the point groupies (whosever groupies they are) do, whats the point? Theyre not youre friends, theyre not your family, they probably havent nor never will save your life, or that of a loved one, they wont care for you when youre sick, most of the time they dont know you exist, if they DO notice you you may get a quick shag, which is when you'll realise that really it wasnt worth the effort and theyre not the person physically or emotionally that you thought they were - OR you may get a relationship going in which case you'll find that theyre human beings and you'll argue with them the same as anyone else. i used to work with an entertainer (not that famous) and women used to throw themselves at his feet, the number of times i've had stilletoes in my toes as women try to shove their way into the dressing room is barmy. Go out, get friends, talk to your family

Who wouldnt want to be like someone with magical powers. My girlfriend sometimes looks at me as a celebrity! Although i have no groupies and no fans.

I remember going to see Spandau Ballet. I was there screaming for Tony!! I'd happily have been his groupie! My then husband (and we hadn't been married long) was with me. He saw a side of me he never knew existed... In fact, until that point, I never knew existed!! I wasn't at all sad or lonely at that point in my life. Now I suppose I would say that these people who follow the rich and famous could be sad and lonely. Than again, they could just have a really good laugh going around the country with a bunch of like minded poeple. Hey, I come on this site every day, more or less. Does that make me a groupie?
