Well whatever it is, it's certainly a lot bigger than the average house cat.

Johnno I too thought of a dog. Whatever the animal is, it will take more than a tin of KITTIE E KAT to sate it`s appetite, best keep clear of it methinks.

The only thing that prevents me thinking 'dog' is that the animal seems to walk on the rail line itself which dogs can't really do. I don't think it's a panther either because of the tail.Panther's and other large cats always have their tails hanging down whereas this one's tail behaves like a typical cat. I agree with Bob. It is just a large cat, wild probably but a normal cat all the same.

Looks cat-like to me - comical the way it chose to walk along the rail. Isn't there technology to allow us to zoom in for a closer look?
PC Swallow's own dog is corker though - gorgeous!

Whatever that creature is it is definately not a cougar. A cougar is just another name for a mountain lion or in Brit-speak a puma. Pumas are sandy colored with pointed ears; if anything this is a panther or you would call it a black leopard. The leopard is a maneater so if anyone from this forum lives in that area, i would seriously be aware there is something deadly lurking out there...

Lol honestly it looks like a dog to me. Always amuses me how witnesses conveniently "forget" to take their camera out even when they have one or when they do some how always manage to film it out of focus. Big cats must have that affect

Or, he was using a mobile phone. You don't explain Kensington how a dog can walk along a railway line.Only a cat could have that kind of balance. Try it with a dog next time your out walking

Lol I should add mobile phones to the growing list of convenient excuses I'll also just grab a random big dog and try it lol A dog would walk along a railway line using his legs. Using legs for walking? Yes a revolutionary idea I know ;D Even I do it. I notice you don't explain why a dog can't walk along a railway line You'd think by now at least one big cat spotter would have a decent photo or film of a "big cat". Same with the Loch Ness Monster. With all the tourists there you'd think one of them would catch something that was not grainy or out of focus. To me this big cat recording looks just like a dog. If indeed it is a cat then it is just a large domestic one. As for being one of the best recordings I'd hate to see the worst. I really would ;D

I am sure they will be terrified at the prospect of being attacked by a panther 12 inches tall. I would imagine they could ruin a decent pair of tights.

Now found to be using the busses too. A cat has become such a well-known user of a Devon bus service that its drivers know where to let him off.
Casper has been queuing with other passengers to get the number three service from his home in Plymouth for months, bus company First said.
It added that he often sat in the queue and then quietly padded on board and curled up on a seat for the ride. more Johnno

Ok...i don't post much on here but love what you guys do...having said that...
i dont know if that is a big cat but i do know what i saw about 15 years ago...
driving home from watching a film with my then girlfriend...it was about 11pm and we was on a quiet road...we had just came over a small hill and was coasting down the other side at about 40 mph when from the left a big black cat jumped from the bushes landed in the middle of the road and in one leap reached the right side of the road and was gone...we missed it by about 10ft and was seen right in front of the car in the bright headlights by both of us.
now ive seen deer, badgers, foxes and cats along the roads where i live at night and this WAS a big cat...i would say it looked about 4ft long and add about another 2-3ft for the tail...jet black colored and moved like a big cat...it didnt run across the road...it jumped in one bounce about 15ft or what ever a small b roads width is.
now my girlfriend and i didnt say anything for about 5 seconds as we was both shocked at what we saw until i said "that was a panther!"(i dont know what sort of big cat it was but thats what i said)...and she said "YES i know!".
so i dont know if that is a big cat in the video ...but i know what i saw.
