Kind of obvious and a trick virtually any half handed magician could do. It did get the publicity he, and Channel 4 were after so I suppose the ruse succeeded

I did notice the snowflake in the trailer after the show and even associated it with the freezer symbol you get on food packaging at the time ...just didnt apply the hint it was till i read the link above...doh !
The split screen concept was always the easy option, the instant answer that seemed most plausable ...it just seemed such a get out and too unimaginative to be heralded as worthy of all the big hoo haa and build up created by the team involved which of course was just more mis direction for our benefit to make people doubt Derren would ever resort to something that required little more than techy input and little real skill on his part ...infact there was more skill involved in the elaborate reveal show set up and deception than there was in the ten minute prediction show .
And perhaps that is the cleverest thing about this whole stunt ...the power of creating a public persona that the public either are in awe of or cant easily put in a pigeon hole of trust or doubt , he cleverly seamlessly moves between friendly fluffy funny Derren relating everyman anecdotes that influence the audience to relate to him as "one of them" , self depreciating quips and tales of partial failure always work well here , then flips to the more enigmatic mysterious and serious Derren (that mischevious thousand yard stare he uses so well ) that suddenley gives an air of authority and almost superiority the audience previously werent privvy to ...it leaves an audience confused and never quite sure what to believe. And its the perfect set up for the kind of suggestion and mis direction Derren uses .
All though i cant help but wonder if after the huge publicity this has generated that after the initial draw there may be a bit of a backlash as you often see in the public when something has caught their interest as this has...when your dealing with a stunt thats main ingredient is fooling the public after the intial how did he do it and wow factor it can lead to them feeling let down or even foolish when the truth is revealed and turning on the subject all beit unfairly ...simply put the public like to build someone up then quickly turn on them especially if that success makes then feel inferior in some way . Perhaps a full on four event assault on their senses with a publicity campaign thats everywhere like this might leave them feeling a little over exposed and bored of being misled and confused.
Either way its definatly for now hugely increased Derrens profile and public awareness ...and at the moment its all people seem to be talking about by in large positively ....i just cant help wondering if by the end of it all they might be scunnered with the whole thing .

Wish I'd seen the link at the beginning of this thread before making our latest video. Even if it was just cheap camera trickery, still love the guy, and am looking forward to trying to leave my sofa on Friday...
