I do have clear sky, though I haven't completed it yet and got about 1/4 through it. I am not enjoying it as much as the original Stalker though. I will be buying Pripyat as soon as I see it available outside of Russia
I completed Stalker with Oblivion Lost, which was excellent, and am currently replaying the game using Lurk mod www.moddb.com/mods/lurk . Might try Stalker Complete 2009 after that. I so wish it had a coop mode, even a morpg of it would be nice too.
Have you read the short book Roadside Picnic, and seen the Stalker movie - while not the same as the game, they did inspire it - a lot of the game visuals came from the movie. The film is very deep and slow, not an action movie at all, but I loved it, though I suspect many won't like it.
In Stalker, I am currently about to re-enter the X18 complex where the poltergeists are - too damn spooky that place - first time around I had to keep taking a break it was so intense heh. Perhaps I'll play through that section during the day lol.
Yes, clear skies was nowhere near as good. But after reading into it i think their taking Pripyat back into the eploration of CCP Chernobyl and the city rather than the group wars, whichs is what ruined the clear skies game. I believe there will also be far more many and dangerous blow outs. I love being caught short in the middle of a blow out and seeing the bandits scatter as im firing at them, and you have to run underground. Awsome idea.
I also love the idea that Oblivion Lost had where you had to eat, you had to sleep and you had to find a safe place for the night.
You say the labs are scary, did you go to bloodsucker village at night? =D
The game has so many nice touches to it. The very first time I played, I left Cordon and took shelter from the dark and rain in the container near where you find the wounded guy asking for help. I saw a pack of wild dogs approach, pass by only feet away, sniff around a recent corrpse and began dragging it off .
Returning from Pripyat, there was a blowout I took shelter in a small concret hut - I was loaded up with artifacts so the radiation wasn't a problem, but after a while I heard movement in the darkness. There must have been about 70 creatures - snorks, bloodsuckers, dogs - a large mix, approaching from down the hill, and heading straight past where I was sheltering. I could see them illuminated by a burning fire nearby - it was the longest 30 minutes ever .
Pripyat was superb - looking at photos of the real town the game designers did a really good job. It was quite eerie walking around the town , especially the iconic ferris wheel.
I didn't bother with Clear Skies, but I reinstalled the first Stalker game only a couple of days ago, along with the Complete 2009 mod, which makes tons of improvements. It's a bloody awesome game! Fantastic atmosphere.
Assuming Call of Pripyat doesn't get the crappy reviews that Clear Skies got, I'll probably get that one.
Fry: Hey, wait, I'm having one of those things…you know, a headache with pictures. Leela: An idea?
