Perhaps i'm missing something here because i just can't understand why anyone remains open-minded about people who claim to have a sixth sense. Time and time again they have been prooven to be charletons there's really nothing to stay open-minded about.
There are things people can have a serious debate about and i'm thinking about religion here, but you can't have a serious discussion on whether someone is contacting the spirit world that is just a complete waste of time.

Well when i see someone pretending to be pyschic i immediately start looking at how they are performing their act. Are they using body language; have they been indulging in hot reading, are they just feeding back information the sitter has already provided for them? Is the 'Medium' just throwing out general statements that would apply to most people - then perhaps i'd be rating them how good a cold reader are they - but never for one moment would i ever consider the possibility that person is talking to 'spirit'.

Of course, but you are clearly feeding off the stories which are well documented on here and elsewhere. For the record, I don't trust anyone who calls themselves psychic while robbing hard earned cash from grieving folk but I don't tar every single one of them with the same brush otherwise I become closed minded and therefore biased. To be sceptical doesn't mean you are a non believer, it simply means you don't take anything at face value.

Time and time again they have been prooven to be charletons there's really nothing to stay open-minded about. Open mindedness is not about whether you believe or not; it's about your attitude to considering claims on their merit. Open-minded people can reject claims but they should always be prepared to consider new evidence. There are things people can have a serious debate about and i'm thinking about religion here, but you can't have a serious discussion on whether someone is contacting the spirit world that is just a complete waste of time. Which is pretty much a closed-minded attitude; and it's certainly not skepticism!

Well when i see someone pretending to be pyschic How do you know they're "pretending" to be a psychic? So you've already made up your mind! Granted there has never been a scientifically proven case of psychic ability but it took over 200 years to prove Fermat's Theorem, so its not impossible. Which is good, its important to rule out the fakers asap. Once you'd established that that's what they're doing I hope.... Of course you wouldn't, you're either a troll or an idiot, probably both.

Of course you wouldn't, you're either a troll or an idiot, probably both. My apologies, that was rude and unecessary of me. Although my other points still stand. I think its worth pointing out that there is a difference between believing in Psychics and Mediums as we know them today and believing in the possibility that science will make discoveries in non-verbal human communication that we cannot concieve of. Even if tomorrow someone produced incontrovertable evidence that it was possible to communicate with the souls of the dead, it still wouldn't persuade me that Derek Acorah was genuine or using that ability. To my mind he's a proven fake whatever scientific discoveries are made. What I am saying is that proving a stage medium fake does not discount the possibility that science may discover some form of telepathic ability in humans at some point. I'm not saying its likely, but its certainly not impossible either.
