Been enjoying this thread from the non techy upped enclave im slowley hauling myself out off ;D
And im glad Pills brought up the analysis of the MH RAF Raynham sounds as I too watched the clip where the tech guy they had analysing the tape mentioned the lack of reverb on that particular sound and wondered exactly the same thing ....what does that imply about that sound and why is it relevant etc
Also when they say they are analysing it what exactly do they do as such to compare it or find its source ?
Pardon my dumb but I was wondering if they have like a database of known sounds their frequenceys or patterns etc then try and find a similar pattern and eliminate them ? Strip all the background and ambient sounds from the tape till they are left with just the sound they cant identify ?
Basically what im trying to understand is how they identify a sound other than just listening to it and thinking that sounds like a whatever by analysing the electronic data ?
Incidently what is so special about this particular sound that warrented all the fanfare and hoopla that any of the hundreds of other sounds raps knocks wails etc they record yet never seem to have analysed to such a degree as this one ? They could be broken down and sourced as well surely yet the morse communications and answers they claimed to be getting seem to have been dumped is it because those sounds were tones and wraps that could be claimed to be easily replicated but this sound was a little more unique ?
Saw the geophones thing on GH as well but wasn't that impressed in that they would only detect the vibration or movement caused by someone actually knocking , that doesnt rule out the sound simply being played from a recorder or emitted in some way that doesnt involve actually knocking/walking live at the time does it ?
Caught a bit of ghost adventures as well and was equally baffled by their latest gadgets supposed workings...cant even begin to see how they think the thing shows interaction from "ghosts" isnt it just doing what its programmed to react to and chucking out the word that is generated from that reading ?
