I just spoke with the Most Haunted mole (yes they are still alive), and word has it that LivingTV have finally decided to finish Most Haunted and that Antix Productions has gone (or is going) into liquidation!
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

If LivingTV are finishing it, then thats why It is no where near as popular as it once was.
From the days of getting a million viewers, not it gets mear tens of thousands of viewers

They where the instigators of their own downfall. They became too big for their own show, took all the limelight for themselves. Had very public fallings out with their guest mediums, all this culminating in loosing face. They literally blew it for themselves.

Guess thats it then. It was lots of fun though, especially the Pendle Hill Witches and the Dick Turpin investigation.

It was fun but not a serious attempt to try to understand the true cause of why people ascribe certain feelings, noises and visual phenomena as being paranormal and associated with the spirits of the dead. As Barb quite rightly says the egos of those in charge got bigger than the subject matter and over the last several seasons they resorted to greater depths of barrel scraping resulting in them losing any credibility they ever had. This lost them loyal fans but more importantly it lost them a large swathe of mainstream viewers - and viewing figures are the holy grail of commercial TV channels. No channel can afford to pay a production company whose output does not deliver the minimum audience figures it needs in order to justify the fees it charges it'sadvertisers - that's commercial reality and it's why crap programmes that may once have been good programmes get dropped.
The media planners in the large ad agencies who buy the commercial slots for their clients just go away and place the cash with the programmes that deliver bums on sofas.
MH no longer does that.

Just because a tax return is overdue doesn't mean they are getting liquidated. An official notice say in the Times would say that, or their local Manchester newspaper so we shouldn't jump to conclusions as yet. Are their offices still there?

Well, i have had it semi confirmed to me that this coming series of MH (Which has already been filmed) will definitely be the last. Also keep in mind that it is the series that features Chris CONway so will be interesting to see if he gets the "Derek" Treatment and is buried and made to look stupid.

Ooh, about time too. It'll be interesting to see how they explain why it's ending to their adoring public. What's the betting they'll allude to 'bigger and better things' being in the pipeline?

If it is really the end of M H, can they have, in all honesty, any complaints. They have had a good run for their "our" money. Made themselves millionaires ,and picked quite a few people from obscurity and gave them house hold names. They have been going for a long time, and what was a well thought out project to start out with, soon developed into a money making racket. Once that took over it was down hill all the way. I will be sorry to see them go if this be the case, what will I do now for light entertainment and quite a few laughs along the way. . There will be those who will be rubbing their hands together in glee at their demise. ;D. Never make enemies on the way up, you surely always meet them on the way down.
