Brian Cox was a guest on the Richard Bacon Show on 5 Live today (Feb 2nd). He repeated his previous statement 'Astrology... is rubbish'. You can listen to the podcast here www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/dailybacon the relevent section starts at 9 minutes but the whole thing is worth a listen.

www.astrologicalassociation.com/pages/bbc/submit.phpThe Astrological Association of Great Britain have set up a petition Petition to the BBCAA Petition – Submit your name now if you wish to lend your support to address the unfair representation of astrology to the BBC The Association is at present collecting the names and email address of all who wish make known their objections to the misrepresentation of astrology by astronomers specific to the BBC Programme Wonders of the Solar System . Please click on the submit button if you would like your name added to the petition. Deborah Houlding has written an answer to both the Minnesota and Cox criticisms. We encourage you to visit her website. Also pass the link on to as many people as you can. It really does put the distortions of those who claim to be experts in the perspective. Astrologers, it seems, are the people who really know how this part of the heavens work. The Association will be requesting that the BBC make a public apology and a statement that they do not support the personal views of Professor Brian Cox or Dara O’Briains on the subject of astrology. We also request that the BBC will commit to making a fair and balanced representation of astrology when aired in the future. Answering Anti-Astrology PropagandaCommunications the Association have received show that dissatisfaction is growing with Professor Brian Cox's support for Dara O'Briain's denigration of astrology in his Stargazing Live BBC2 television programme on 3rd January 2011 (see the portion commencing 17'30" and 19'45" into the programme). His justification was fragmentary astronomy and empty of logic. Yet he allowed the total condemnation of astrology. This is particularly disappointing, because for the previous nine months the Association had explained carefully to the BBC the reasons why Professor Cox's understanding of astrology was unreliable; following his gratuitous and unsubstantiated dismissal of it in Wonders of the Solar System (BBC2 28th March 2010 episode).
