I saw this as it aired. Seems like a bit of PR for the Magic Circle but fair enough to Fry The Circle has come in for quite a bit of stick lately. Main accusation is that it's nothing but an 'old boys' club.

Houdini & Doyle: trailer and synopsis for ITV’s new drama
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle meets Harry Houdini in ITV’s creatively named drama, Houdini & Doyle…
Not content with brining Arthur & George to our screens last year, ITV is launching another drama about Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle with an ampersand in the title.
This one’s called Houdini & Doyle, and it sees The Great Detective’s creator (here played by Stephen Mangan) teaming up with the famous magician and escape artist (Michael Weston) to investigate some paranormal happenstance.
Here’s the trailer…
And here’s the synopsis…
“Harry Houdini: master magician, escape artist, born penniless and now the highest paid performer in the world and he wants everyone to know it. He refuses to believe in the paranormal. As a professional magician and master of illusion he knows there’s nothing supernatural about magic. To him, everything unexplained is a trick, a gimmick, or a fraud.
“Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the creator of the greatest detective of all time – Sherlock Holmes – but is also a passionate believer in the paranormal. Because, having lost someone very close to him, he desperately wants to find a way of communicating with them.
“What can we believe? What should we believe? Is cynicism to be admired or is it what makes us human? Is reason the antithesis of hope?”
Houdini & Doyle will air exclusively on ITV Encore. We’ll let you know when we hear an airdate.

Derren Brown partners with Thorpe Park to create world's first 'psychological' attraction Master illusionist Derren Brown has partnered with Thorpe Park to create the world’s first immersive, psychological theme park experience. Brown, famed for his mind-bending stunts and psychology-driven magic, has applied his long-standing methods of illusion, misdirection and showmanship to help create the attraction, which he has worked on for three years with the Surrey-based theme park. The 44-year-old magician first rose to prominence with television programmes for Channel 4, which showcased his apparent ability to both predict and control a person’s thoughts. Thorpe Park say the immersive experience, open March 2016, will “manipulate and derail the mind” during each visitor’s 13-minute experience. When Harry Houdini tried to talk to the deadWhen you think of Harry Houdini, you likely think of magic shows and daring escapes. The vaudeville star could break free of any set of handcuffs. He once made a full-grown elephant disappear. But he also had a strong interest in the occult — mediums, séances and spirits. He wanted to talk to the dead..... The Intimate Magic Tour 'with the Amazing Paul Daniels and the Lovely Debbie McGee' is back on tour throughout the year:"Several years ago the most entertaining magic guy in the world, Paul Daniels, together with his wife, Debbie McGee, toured with a small, intimate, magic show and had so much fun they have decided to do it again. They will be bringing their night of bafflement and laughter up and down the country with a unique show that is definitely not to be missed. If you care to visit www.pauldaniels.co.uk you will find a page listing all the awards and honours that Paul has received from magical organisations worldwide. They call him ‘The Legend’ and Dynamo has called him ‘The Godfather of Magic’. From her time as a ballet dancer in Iran, and becoming a lot more than Paul’s assistant, Debbie now appears in her own right, both on stage and on her Radio Berkshire show. In this show, as you will see, she joins in the fun that is ‘The Intimate Show’."

Yeah i posted this in its own thread as well, as its such an amazing routine which I have never forgot. Shame that smoking indoor laws meant he could not really do the routine any more.

This is such a very sad and dreadful piece of news. I wish him well along with Debbie and his children.
Looks like we may not get to see him after all. My son has been in contact with him for many years on his website. Iain picked up many tips and so did the boys and they were always encouraged by him. The little family magic shows that they would put on at Christmas time for us, were all down to Paul.

All future shows have been cancelled, Barb, and since the diagnosis isn't good it's unlikely they'll be re-arranged!

I know Mr Jinx, we have all shed a few tears for a truly great magician and for what he and his family will go through. Not only did he do his magic for us but made us all laugh as well, and mainly at ourselves. We all loved the one were people would get stuck in a chair.
He made us like it, not at lot, but like it.

We all loved the one were people would get stuck in a chair. Thankfully, a couple of years ago he committed all his best routines (including the chairs) to DVD so that future generations of magicians will be able to learn from the master. His legacy will live on.

Favourite Paul Daniels trick is when he puts a TV camera in a box, lifts it up, and it disappears, all the while with a feed from the camera showing on the screen, still baffles me. I kinda dont want to know how it was done cause it was so perfect
