Okay, on Saturday I attended a domenstration of clairvoyance in the afternoon at a local church. This medium seemed very down to earth and full of good humour. I arrived late with my brother, we fortunately got a front seat, the medium's name was Tayo, I never managed to get her surename. Anyway, it was time for the demonstration to begin, she did about 6/7 readings before she came to me, below is what she said to me, I'll let you decide whether she's the real deal or not.
"As I link in, I have with me a strong lady, on a grandmother link; she makes me feel you wouldn't want to upset her, you would have known if you did otherwise. She tells me you are receptive to spirit, you are going to work on platform at a high level of connection with spirit."
um....ok.
"Are you writing something like a manuscript? You get inspiration from writing don't you?"
I love to write stories...etc, and I must admit, I am writing a script for a project I'm working on.
"I see you going to America to work. You will travel abroad a lot, it's all going to be fun. You are also being given strength at this moment in time."
Can't say about America LOL. Strength, well I am going in for a minor operation soon.
"You like dolphins I'm being told. You have a dream to swim with them one day. You will, again America connects to this. With that God bless."
Yes I do like dolphins, think they are fascinating, and yes I would love to swim with dolphins, it is a dream of mine.

would have been better if she could have given you a name, but then all mediums dont get names.

that would have been more convincing if she told you that is what you were doing, mediums in my view shouldnt be asking the questions.

who doesnt like dolphins, I would love to swim with dolphins.
To be honest it is a pretty basic reading and probably ll guess work, sorry to say, not a lot of detail. But that is only my opinion.
do you know on the odd occassion that I have done a reading for any one, I can honestly say hand on heart, I have never told them they will work with spirit..mediums do tend to like that line dont they ?

Many seem to. It's probably meant to add an extra frisson of excitement to the reading and - assuming they are giving a reading to a believer - leave them wanting more.
It's offering a spoonful of the soup hoping they'll go on to order a bowl.
Yeah I've had that said to me too - 'you will go on to work with spirit' and 'you definitely have psychic abilities' - I think you're right about the reasons why a lot use this, Sarah.
'All through this short life we give of ourselves, giving and giving and slowly diminishing. Leaving a mark that will gradually fade, ash in the breeze, snowballs in negative.'
Well done mama, you have impressed me today. Nice analyses, and you were spot on! Saves me doing it lol.
We will make a sceptic of you yet!
*faints*
seriously though I can be very sceptical, and have slways said, tear a reading apart before accepting any of. Some things will mean something to a person and thats fair enough but an awfull lot can be guess work, maybe going to a church for 4 years hasnt been wasted after all !! I must stress though I dont go any more, dont like they way they work.
Just want to say something in defence of believers (yes, really!). While it seems to be true that a lot of them sometimes believe stuff without analysing it, it has to be said that they're not all the sheep that they're often portrayed as. There are many who will not accept readings just because they believe in spirits - there are those who will look deeper into it, and accept that it might be fraudulent. I think that quite often, believers aren't given credit where it's due, and there's a sometimes unfair belief that they're all bored, gullible individuals.

Believers cover a wide range of people...some believe in this and not in that...some are sceptical and some are very intelligent, learned individuals..
They do get shown in a negative light at times..as do skeptics.. It can become a propaganda war between the two sides..and that's just daft.
I believe in certain things but not other things...I'll fight my corner and if proved wrong about something will hold my hands up and say I was wrong. But as a Skeptic needs hard factual proof..I demand that myself.
Anyway..Hate these labels..so annoying.
And as for readings..Have never had a personal reading...would like to..but would check it out thouroughly. And would judge it on it's merits. If I was to be told something no-one could possibly ever know..then I would have to believe it..and if not then I would be Skeptical.
But think we have to recognise Belief goes way beyond hard, cold facts. All of us have some sort of belief within us that is not backed up by facts...Even if it is just something as small as we may win the lottery...In our kids..In our friends..In ourselves. No logic there...but then..hell logic can be sooooo boring sometimes.
Yep, every belief system requires a leap of faith I suppose.
As for readings, I've had my palm read, my tarot cards read and had readings from mediums. None of them came up with anything that was specific to me, nothing that bowled me over and made me question what I believed in.
'All through this short life we give of ourselves, giving and giving and slowly diminishing. Leaving a mark that will gradually fade, ash in the breeze, snowballs in negative.'
I think it does take a leap of faith perhaps.. Some people see what they see in the world and that is enough for them..They don't need, or require any more.
Some people look for more in the unseeable and they accept that into the 'real' world.
I have always wondered tbh...What is 'real' and what is not, what may be out there so to speak...I find the quest for the unknown very exciting.
But if I didn't have some spark of belief that there may be something there..I probably wouldn't bother asking the questions..
I would only look at ways to deny the possible answers...

What do you all make of it?
The medium could have guessed the grandmother by looking at your age (i.e., you're too young to have a mother who is passed over, so maybe grandma would be more likely?). Your love of writing could have been surmised from your appearance, if you had a bookbag or notebook with you, or could have been a lucky guess. America in your future-- shoot, psychics over here probably tell people they're going abroad, too! The dolphin thing would be easy if you had an image of a dolphin on your clothing or wore a piece of jewlery shaped like one. "America will figure" in your getting your dream to swim with the dolphins: a no-brainer, as Florida's Sea-World is famous for its Dolphin Preserve, where people can do exactly that.
I would say cold-reading is a definite possibilty, based on what you've said. Remember, visual clues and hints count too, if the client has not said anything aloud to the medium.
