Hey guys, I recently came across this website counterknowledge.com/about/ which after a brief glance appears to be an interesting skeptical site (I've not looked into it too much tho). But what puzzled me was the quote in the about page: I'm aware of the other issues it mentions but I've never heard of "Afrocentric history" as being some form of "credulous thinking". I'm guessing what they mean by that is a version of history that focusses on Africa in a way that is not proportionate to its significance in history. If that's the case then surely that's a matter for debate within the historical community, but not something that can be scientifically proved or disproved. I suspect that either this website has a personal agenda on the subject or there is an aspect to this that I am unaware of, anyone care to enlighten me?

counterknowledge.com is (or was, before it stopped being updated) a sceptical site. I think this "Afrocentric history" refers to a group of hypotheses claiming that lots of ancient South American civilisations were, in fact, settlers from Africa - presumably they crossed the Atlantic Ocean by thumbing a lift on one of Erich von Daniken's UFOs.
