I've just sat through an episode of T.A.P.S (it's a slow day) and all I can say is at least Most Haunted had a bit of pizazz.
Alternatively, Derek Acorah - the best fake medium in the trade.

I reckon many people watched MH purely because of Derek as, if nothing else, he did provide a bit of light relief.

Derek leaving MH was the end of paranormal investigations having any real pull on the TV

I agree, he made MH worth watching in my opinion. Let's face it, nothing interesting ever happened on that show unless Derek was involved.

Bring M H back I say with our dear Derek. I miss them for their comic content.

We are all to blame, When Derek was on MH we all really wanted MH to be a serious paranormal investigation show. Which as we know is an impossibly boring format.
We should have recognised what Acorah was bringing to the table, but our morals to the side and just enjoy it.
But then again Yvette would still have been jealous of Acorahs fame and stitched him up anyway

Very true Jon, his popularity was his downfall. Lest we forget he was famous before all the others on M H, he made them all house hold names.

He couldn't win, let's face it. They obviously wanted him in the first place, they enjoyed it when he was being possessed or bringing the only bit of entertainment (and lots of viewers) to their uninteresting programme, and then when they realised people were beginning to laugh about his 'Antix' and they were being accused of being in on it (because as we know, they're squeaky clean) they decided he was embarrassing them and set him up to get rid of him.
It would be interesting to know the regular viewing figures for Degsy and post-Degsy shows.

Dirk owned that show and fingers brought some degree of weight. The rest of the muppets were there to fill in their gaps.

Dickie Fingers and Degsy made Most Haunted.
But when you look back at people who were on that show, Derek is probably doing the best now out of all of them
