As some of our regular readers will know I'm a semi-professional magician. Tonight I had a booking (I was the pre-show and interval entertainment) at a theatre about 30 miles from my home. On the whole everything went well; except at one table who refused to be entertained by someone doing magic tricks.
Since the methods of the magician have been exposed time and time again and that, practically, everyone knows that it's just a 'trick' why do some religious nut cases still believe that it's the work of the devil?

Haven't a clue, I was told by the next table that they were hardcore church goers which would make them christians I presume. Though from what faith I couldn't say. What my mum would have called 'High Church'. I've come across people like this before; they have a deep belief that anything magical is evil even though they worship a god whose son was nothing more than a glorified magician (if he even exhisted that is)

How vexing for you Mr Jinx, surely these very ignorant people knew before hand that a magician was going to perform. You did not just pop up from nowhere,or did you.? . My old gran had a name for people like them, she called them spoiled sports, they belong to the `I do not like it ,so you can`t like it either, brigade`. What utter nutters some people are. You carry on Mr Jinx, your act brings pleasure too many people.

Thank you Barb. They knew I would be there as it was advertised. Apparently there is quite a large religious community in that area. Sort of people that think sex is a dirty word yet they all have big families.

They sound like a bundle of fun. Probably the kind of people who enjoyed and encouraged a good witch burning back in the day. Muppets. morganp
