Heard this on the world news this morning. The Catholic Church in Germany is withdrawing from all Catholics who have opted out of paying tax to the said church all rights. The right to take communion, to be given a Catholic funeral.
Apparently they are loosing millions as church attendances slump, this is being blamed on the Revelations concerning the cover up over child abuse.
The Bishops just fall short of calling it ex -communication. The tax that is paid is obligatory, but with a get out clause, which literally thousands have used.
One Bishop "could not catch his name " said, for every one baptism there are three funerals, and this is very worrying. Church funds are going down at an alarming rate.
