Just watched Jonathan Goodwin on the Jonathan Ross show! The lying on a single spike trick wasn't very well performed, it was pretty obvious he was using the leg gimmick that Dynamo uses for his weird balance trick. Not impressed! Didn't see it but I'll keep an eye out for the replay.

Houdini conjures a magic resultThose who work for auction houses dream of moments such as this. Luke Jones, of Lawsons Auctioneers in Leichhardt, Sydney, was contacted recently by a valuer who suggested he check out the contents of a trunk stored in a client's garage. The woman thought it was of no particular value. ''I nearly fell over when I discovered what was in there,'' Jones recalls. ''She told me she had even been thinking about throwing it out.'' Once he'd picked up his jaw from the floor, Jones told the woman that what she had was indeed worth something. And, two weeks ago, the contents of that trunk sold for more than $160,000, attracting bids from the US, England and Asia, as well as Australia. www.theage.com.au/money/houdini-conjures-a-magic-result-20130305-2fi7n.html

Illusionist DAVID COPPERFIELD was left terrified during a plane journey on Monday (04Mar13) when the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing. The magician was travelling to New York City ahead of an appearance on America's Today show when he heard a "scary" noise. Cabin crew informed passengers the plane would be making an emergency landing in Illinois and Copperfield later took to his Twitter.com page to let fans know he was safely on the ground. www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/381812/David-Copperfield-in-plane-emergency

I saw the advert for it but didn't see the show. I'll see if it's on catch-up. I remember Goodwin from a few years ago. He was doing daft stunts then as well, think his dad was helping him at the time.

Some terribly sad news, it's being reported on twitter that Hans Moretti has passed away. Hans, accompanied by his wife Helga, was a regular on the Paul Daniels Show and will be remembered for his fantastic escapes.

Magician's calls for Carmarthen ghost stories for spooky town tourHAVE you seen a ghost in Carmarthen? Do you know a story about a haunting or spooky experience in the town? If so, your tales are needed by a magician and story-teller who is starting a guided tour called the Carmarthen Spooky Town Tour. Nick Brunger is looking for stories of ghosts and hauntings to add to the experience. The 59-year-old, of Felingwm-Isaf, has already been leading tours telling true stories of crime and punishment in Carmarthen at the town's former Victorian Police station — now the tourist information centre at Castle House. Make sure you watch the second episode of Jonathan Goodwins show, as really want to hear your opinion. I just watched a promo copy of it. Really want to know if its magic or real stunts. I know the stunt he did on Jonathan Ross show was a trick using a leg brace but cant see how Watch would allow him to put his life in danger for real at any point on his show

They're re-screening the second episode on Wednesday night. I've set up the dvd to record the rest of the series.
Just had a look at a couple of the previews and I'm not convinced either way at the moment. Definately need to see a whole episode. I'll report back soon.

OK, just watched the second episode. Firstly, I'll say up front I didn't find the program particulary exciting. Despite the claims of imminent danger I didn't really have any doubts or worries about what he was doing.
The program itself is a mixture of traditional escapology, albeit with a twist, and sideshow stunts. The methods were, again, a mixture of traditional and more unconventional techniques. I think it fair to say that not everything was as it appeared.
