Easter was a pagan ceremony at the start of spring or rather the end of winter celebrating new life.. new/ re birth. In order to make the transition to Christainity smoother, the supposed resurection of the Christ figure was said to have happened during that time. Some of the exact details of the OP may be dubious but the essence is perfectly correct.
It's the same with Christmas Jon and the link to midwinter. New year/ new saviour.. All pagan in nature.
