No Joke at all and while nothing definite there are plausible explanations for SHC. Nothing paranormal or weird about it but it does happen and is very well documented as you well know. Bit "Daily Mail" just to come out with "Hope the parents are questioned" in my opinion.

This baby did not spontaneously combust 4 times, sorry that just never happened!
This is different to some old dear sat in a chair at home smoking a fag and setting herself on fire.

Oh come on Jon. lol I share your skeptisism on most things but to say SHC is down to smoking is just silly. There is a natural scientific explanation to this which is very plausible and not supernatural. In the extreme cases where people have died it seems the body combusts from inside out burning the fattiest tissues hence why so many are left with only parts of feet/legs and arms while nothing much surrounding them is engulfed in flames. Like a wick from the inside.

We are 75% water, and the wick effect I agree with as an explanation, but it is not from the inside out, a child simply cannot combust 4 times with no external cause.
And in an age of CCTV and so on, and 7 billion people on the planet why is there no footage of this happening?

How can you combust the 4th time, if you already combusted the 1st time? :/. If Google is anything to go by, an adult dies after combusting, so surely a small baby would obviously die? Either that or there's some form of abuse being missed?

Probably a parent smoking, drops cigarette on baby, baby's clothes catch fire, parent blames SHC
