Are you not going to renew skeps.org then? Yes, I wanted to, Jon, but FFs caused problems. Last year I renewed it via the Admin Panel and ended up being charged twice, as they had done it automatically. I did get a refund. This year, I left it to them, as it says on the Admin Panel that the domain will be renewed automatically. It wasn't and it expired. In spite of me telling them at least 3 times that the fault was theirs, they are insisting on me paying $25 to have the domain reactivated, when ordinary renewal is $15, so I'm letting it lapse. I've read what you posted on Skeps, and thanks, but I'm just not the IT expert that you are. I don't really want a site as well as a forum - look that happened to Skepticism-UK And I have looked at other free hosting companies, but to move, you need access to the forum database, and FFs don not allow that. Not surprising, really!! |

If I was you I would start everything fresh.
But without a real purpose in mind that would be pointless.
Skepticism-UK failed because they didn't take my advice, were arrogant, and assumed they knew better than not only someone like me, but better than John Jackson, who actually made the UK Skeptics site a big deal in the first place second only to BadPsychics in the UK! Which is one hell of an achievement if you think about it.
If my name wasn't dirt in the skeptical community at large, i'd start a new skepticism site and try and put right all that has gone wrong with modern skepticism, but alas my name will never be accepted by the stuck up, academic crowd that has ruined skepticism for the average Joe, so I will happily stay in my own little world. Shame really, but that is life.
