Gordon Smith is the worst of all those I've seen. I'm 100% convinced he had plants in the audience - and not the botanical kind! Could You direct me to a Source where this was exposed...I would enjoy to read this ! Bc. I thought G. Smith was the nice Barber/Psychic who doesn't even CHARGE for his Readings...! This used to be his gimmick that he would give free readings while cutting hair, but this he only did at the very start of his career before he was famous, he has pretty much always charged, he just used that gimmick as a way to "prove" he wasnt a conman.

I follow a lot of psychic mediums on FB just for fun. He does say that he doesn't charge for readings, then again I did contact him months ago and never heard back.

This happened recently at an Evening with a Young Swiss Medium (I was there). The Medium stood in front of a Young Woman who lost her best (female) Friend in an Accident. He said to her : "Her Spirit is telling me "Tomato-Mozzarella-Salad !" Then the Sitter said very amazed : "This was our favourite Dish, we ate this always together !"
Hot Reading ? Lucky Guess ? Plant in the Audience ?

These are the types of things that make you go hmmm. And it's not that I'm a believer though I'd love to be. It's hard to understand all the misses though even when there are (in my opinion) amazing hits.

But could this possibly be just a Luck Guess or does it take at least some (Confirmation Bias) Help by the Sitter ?

Unless i could hear the whole conversation, there really is no way of knowing. It would be foolish to just say "hot reading" or "lucky guess" etc.
I prefe rto be specific and say exactly how it is done, so to just assume one method is lazy on my part.

It's difficult to imagine how anyone can get out of bed every day and live one big lie. Some of these mediums must be self-deceiving you can't lie constantly 24/7; there has to be some sort of belief there. You'd think so anyway.

I agree with that, some do believe. Makes you wonder though if someone truly had a gift or believes they really can communicate with our loved ones why charge so much or at all. Many speak about wanting to help people, provide closure etc fine but then why charge over $1,000 an hour? Some of the more in demand mediums charge this much. To me, it kind of flies in the face of what being spiritual means, karma and all that jazz. I posted this on James van Praagh FB page and my post was deleted and I was blocked....lol. That says a lot, I thought it was a fair question.

Its so difficult to know what's going on with James Van Praagh. The man releases books on the subject. I think he takes himself seriously. But there again he has so many misses there must at least be moments when he questions himself. It may be the case that so many believe in him, it reassures him that he truly can do what he says he can, and that he is getting messages from people who have passed away.

I hate to say this but somewhere on YouTube is a video where he's doing a reading for someone where the guy just makes up a scenario regarding his dead father and Van Praagh plays right into his hands. At the end the guy who's getting read says James Van Praagh you're full of $#it or something like that. It made me laugh but at the same time sad cause it was at a time I really needed to believe. Look it up, maybe someone here will know who the sitter was.

No he doesn't question himself, he knows he is a fraud and has taken a calculate career path

But people live a lie all the time, plus it helps when you live in a nice big house, with a fancy car and lots of money in the bank etc

Question to John : You said You went to a Mediumistic Course, You even COMPLETED it ! (Arthus Findlay College ?) What do/did You think about the People in Your "Class" at that time ? How honestly did they believe in it ? What about Your "Teacher" ? Did You see Signs of Fraud about him & her or Signs of Self-Delusion ? Please tell a little bit about this Experience (or did You already elsewhere on this Forum ?) ?

Question to John : You said You went to a Mediumistic Course, You even COMPLETED it ! (Arthus Findlay College ?) What do/did You think about the People in Your "Class" at that time ? No it was not that "college" The people in the class were in general all true believers who were deluded, there were no out and out frauds that I recall. Although in the so called advanced class they pretty much were all using cold reading pretty blatantly, although the leader of the college claimed to not know, and when I pointed it out, the teachers of that class were let go and both classes were merged. I think it is very easy to want to copy the styles of the famous mediums you see on tv, sadly they are all frauds, so to copy their style will inevitably mean you will realise you are cheating. My class they seemingly believed in it, and I saw first hand how easy it is to convince yourself you have magical powers. My teacher seemed pretty honest, at one point because of me, and what I was pointing out to her, she closed the college down, and was in tears, because i think it was starting to hit home what she had been allowing to happen. Although she did try to get it back going, for various reasons, she ended up closing the college for good, and is no longer a medium, and now does charity work for stray dogs and so on. I like to think I was a large part of her choosing to walk away, and doing a more honest profession. Self delusion yes, she really did believe, this was in part due to her simply not really understanding what cold reading was, many psychics and believers through those words about, but dont really understand what it means, they think it is a simple thing of asking questions and watching body language, it is a hell of a lot more than that.
