Oh my gawd, I know I must come across as someone who just loves hating on the MH crew, but I just had to bitch about this.
So I was looking at the Facebook page of the visionary, Stuart Torevell. He has done the unthinkable. He has done something, no, created something that 'has been years in the making'. Yes, that's right, he has created a sticker... for your car... to tell people that you're using a temporary tyre.
Now, let me just say that I happen to know a little about this kind of thing. I am a graphic designer and for 10 years I worked in a printing factory where I designed car stickers (among other stuff of course) day in day out; which the printing guys would then print thousands upon thousands of. This kind of printing is the bread and butter of a lot of printing businesses and has been for decades!.
Not only that, the design is something I could knock up in 5 minutes, and I am not even exaggerating for effect. The design, the materials, the print... it is just so not special, and yet it has 'been years in the making'. It is the kind of thing that is so basic that you would think if there was money to be made in having such a sticker available to purchase, it would be a product already and you'd be able to pick them up at your local Halfords.
It gets better though.
Stuart thinks that this sticker is such a good idea that is going to earn him a lot of dosh, that he has gone to the expense of having a web design company make a website (I refuse to link to it cause it will backlink and might cause the site to be bumped up in Google search results -- the address is cautionsigns.co.uk) ... and its not a bad looking site either. It's not amazing by any standard, but it is not hideous. Nice logo, nice typeface etc. So someone has put some effort and money into branding this thing. ALL FOR A STICKER!!!!!!
You thought it couldn't get any better didn't you? Well prepare to be amazed.
You can buy one of these groundbreaking stickers for just £4.99. But what if I want the entire family to have one each for their cars? Well, Stuart has a family pack of 3 for just £14.97 - so you can save a whopping 0%! Or what if you have a whole FLEET of vehicles? Don't you worry your pretty little head about that either, as you can pick up the BUSINESS pack with a mind-bending 10 of the stickers; this time though we have some major incentives to tease us into going all out... 10 stickers... JUST £48.90 - that's a discount of £1.00 if bought separately. Oh Stuart, you are spoiling us.
I know the sign is serving a purpose. Road safety awareness is always a good thing. But this has to be one of the most bizarre products I have ever seen. Its not even like he has a range of stickers to buy, it just one little sticker. I don't understand how people didn't say to him, Stuart, this isn't worth the money you're going to spend on it. He has even registered the company as a limited company!
I thought Stuart was dim, but this is a whole new level.
[All opinions are my own and are just that, my opinions]
