Hi everyone. This is Ian barbs son. Sadly Barb has had to go into hospital last Thursday after some blood tests. On Saturday the Dr told me that she probably didn't have very long as her kidneys are failing and she has Cancer in her liver. They are trying to arrange for her to come home for palliative care as she would rather spend her last days at home and we want what she wants. She has told me to post on here to let you know what's going on. Hopefully we get her back home in time for her to say goodbye to you all herself. But for me personally I would like to say thank you to you all here. This forum has meant so much to her and given her a community to be part off, you guys are great !!! Stay safe.

Oh no Ian, I am so sorry to hear this, please tell her that she means the world to me and the forum, and she has made this a much better place just for being here, I have all the respect in the world for your mom, she is a lovely lady, and I wish I could have met her in "real life".
Please pass my love on to her, and you and your whole family know we are thinking of you in these difficult times.

Ian, I am so sorry to hear this and am heartbroken for you, your family and, of course, your Mum. Barb has been a really important part of this forum, loved by us all, and I know she loves it here too and chats to everyone like they are old friends, which is exactly how we feel about her. She's a very special, lovely lady.
I haven't been active on here for a while now only due to life getting in the way, but your Mum and I became Facebook friends too and chatted on there now and again. I always hoped to meet her one day but we never got around to organising anything, which I'm sad about.
Please pass on my love to her. I'm thinking of you all. xx

I really hope Barb will get chance to see our messages, or have them read to her. Cant stop thinking of you Barb. You helped make this forum and gave us a place to chat and just talk about normal things.
xx

I echo what Jon has said. Barb was a lovely woman - full of life, always cheerful, full of tales of her little 'walled garden' and the dog that came to her out of the blue but who became her beloved companion. We knew what you were having for tea many a time when you were visiting, and her love for you and her grandsons shone through in every post of hers.
She will be sorely missed. We never met Barb in person but we all felt like we knew her and this forum wouldn't have been the same without her.
May she rest in peace. Love to you and all of your family.

I am so sad to read this. For someone I only knew on this forum I so really warmed to her and would have loved to have met her in person. Her kind heart, caring, sense of humour and love for her family showed through in everything she posted here. She had a lot in common with my mum with her B12 injections, kidney issues and finally liver cancer which also took my mum back in 2017. I can't imagine the loss felt by her family. Such a lovely lady, and as Jo said this forum wouldn't have been the same without her. RIP dear Barb xx
